    Canon BP-970G reviews

    BP-970G Battery Pack - 7.4V, 7200mAh is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits perfectly in my XHA1 After buying into the Series 7, I have to say, I should have just bought a couple of these. The Series 7 are bulky, they make the camera top-heavy, they waste valuable space with the light adapter that could otherwise go to other add-ons, like a DTE, a wireless receiver, etc. For a lot of people this battery, coupled with the stock battery will get you through most of your shoots. Only those who are going out in the wilderness or who are going to shoot for hours and hours might consider buying two of these. It makes your camera a little heavier, but not enough to warrant a smaller battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most outstanding battery pack Ive used I have purchased batteries before, most recently a 'knock off' brand to save a few bucks! Boy, what a mistake! With those batteries, brand not being mentioned, I couldn't shoot an entire wedding without having to change battery packs. Fortunately I came around and purchased two of these packs. Well, I was able to shoot an entire wedding and more than half of the following reception. These batteries rock! I would suggest the HP 970G to any and every applicable Canon camera owner. Great job Canon! You are lifesavers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I use this pack as my primary battery in my XH-A1s, and I just keep the stock battery as a backup. I love the battery. It's absolutely massive, so it lasts for an incredibly long time. I would definitely recommend buying Canon, since the battery is made to very precise specifications, and is up to Canon's standard. I have heard unfortunate things about third-party batteries for the XH-A1. The only drawbacks I can think of are the price and recharge time. It's pretty expensive, and takes a long time to recharge, although the time is understandable considering this battery's capacity. However, I made the plunge, and I am glad I did. This battery will last you quite awhile, both in the field and in lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After extensive usage of this battery... I purchased one of these for shooting weddings with the XH-A1 series cameras. I used to carry 4 batteries to shoot a full wedding. One for the pre-wedding and ceremony... one for the reception... one for my old camera light...and one as a backup in case of a failure. With this battery (and replacing my light)... I'm down to two batteries. One 4 hour battery for the pre-wedding and ceremony footage... and this battery for the reception and party afterwards. This battery will freaking run ALL NIGHT. I'm sure if I was on a camera that didn't have to turn a tape drive... it would last much longer. This is worth every penny. Before I used to carry a camera bag to support gear. Now... I put everything into a photographers combat vest and have have everything I need and don't have to worry about carrying that bag around any more. Now it is a heavy battery, but it's lighter than carrying the multiple batteries it replaces! You also need to plan in advance of your shoot... because it takes almost as much time to charge it as it does to discharge it. One other disadvantage... it is sensitive to cold temperatures. At an outdoor shoot at 15 degrees, it only lasted 2 hours. I suspect that most batteries are sensitive to that... but thought I'd point that out. I will be buying a couple more of these for my other two cameras... simply because not having to worry about battery life frees you up so you can focus on your filming. Creativity is enhanced in a mind that is not distracted by all the little things that can go wrong! LOL!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Option for a Bit Longer Life Very happy with these extended run batteries. As a doc style shooter, I'm almost always using IS lenses, sometimes autofocus and the flip out viewfinder. All this runs the battery down faster, so a bit more run time is very helpful. As others have noted, this battery is larger than the stock Canon battery, but since there is no battery door or clearance issues on my camera, it's not an issue for me. It would be nice for the battery to have the onboard level indicator, but honestly, with the charge level shown in camera, I haven't really missed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ONLY battery for Canon XH-A1.... After my first charge I shot for 2.5 days on this one battery. I was shooting b-roll, so alot of stand by and hold time. It is the heaviest battery that will fit in the XH-A1, but with the way these cameras are balanced, the additional weight is needed for proper stability and balance. I just purchased a second for the camera, and plan on using them exclusively.
