The XP201, from XPsound and distributed by SM Pro Audio, is a low-cost computer solution for transferring, restoring, and archiving vinyl to audio CD or CD-ROM. The hardware interface also includes a microphone preamp with gain control, along with a headphone amplifier.
Because consumer level audio equipment, including turntables and tape recorders, output different audio levels, a phono/microphone pre-amp is required to match levels with a line level input. The XP201 has a built-in RIAA equalizer for the accurate processing of signals from a turntable.
The included Diamond Cut 32 v4.0 software (Windows only,) allows users to edit their transferred audio, utilizing various non-destructive processes. These include de-essing, de-clicking, de-noise, hiss and hum removal, azimuth and speed correction, EQ and cross-fading, amongst the many other functions.
The adjustable microphone preamp allows users to record vocals, or any other audio source, directly to their computer, utilizing any dynamic microphone of choice. The stereo headphone amplifier is accessible from the front panel.
