The USB Modem from Apple is a compact external modem that interfaces with your computer via a USB port. The modem is ideal for Apple users who own a computer without an internal modem and use a dial-up connection to connect to the internet. The modem can connect at speeds of up to 56 kbps using the V.92 protocol. Its compact form factor makes it ideal for notebook computer users who find themselves on the road and need to dial-in to an office network or for home users who simply need to add an unobtrusive modem to their computer.

USB Interface

The modem conveniently connects via the USB interface, making it easy to add to your Mac. Simply plug the modem into the USB port, connect your phone line and configure the modem in OS X's network control panel and you will be ready to get online.

Fax Capabilities

The modem features fax support in addition to its normal modem functions. This allows you to send and receive faxes on your computer without having to invest in a dedicated fax machine.

Mac Compatible

Because the modem is designed by Apple you can be sure that it will be compatible with your Mac computer. The modem will function with USB-enabled Apple computers running Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later.

I know that Apple products are good and reliable but I have not been able to send a single fax using this modem. I can't tell whether the problem originates with the modem or something is wrong with my iMac which is otherwise working fine.

Needed for newer Macs without built-in modem. Still trying to convince parents to go broadband...

Simple to use: no software needed as OS X sees it and sets it up via Systems. Small, portable with a cool little cover that keeps both ends secured so it won't tangle. Efficient and worth every cent for this laptop user. Enjoy!
