VariZoom VZ-PFI Reviews
Works with Panasonic AJ-PX270
The Varizoom line of products are just adequate, in my opinion. They do their intended job harshly. If the Zoom or Iris had a little more play in them as well as rate adjustment control, I would give them 5 Stars and sing their praises. It would be great if the focus ring was more centered to the tripod handle and closer to the bottom half of the unit than towards the top. If you're using your thumb to control it while the rest of your left hand is controlling the tripod handle, the VariZoom unit sits in an awkward spot. But why should VariZoom change anything to accomodate a cameraman when their product sells fine the way it is.
Love this!
It's a bit touchy-sensitive, so don't move it too much to rack focus or iris, but it worked wonderfully for me on my last jib gig. Used it with my HPX-250. Wish the grip on it worked on a swing-out type assembly rather than having to completely unscrew two screws, but that's pretty minor.
