Spacious and solidly manufactured, perfect for what I needed loading 400ft 16mm reels.

You DON'T get what you pay for

After a few years of using the heavy, cumbersome Paterson changing bag, I decided to pull the trigger on this lighter pop-up darkroom for loading roll and sheet film onto my reels and dev tank in hopes that it would result in less dust on my 4x5 negatives. Does it work? Yeah, but at what cost? The material is thin and cheap feeling. It feels like the seams won't last more than year or two with regular use. I'm afraid to fold it back up in fear that it'll compromise one of the cheaply sewn seams. The instruction sheet states that these bags are NOT tested for light leaks. $100 PhotoFlex can't even guarantee that it does what it is literally made to do? Good to know they have zero QC. They then go on and recommend you test for fogging with a film sheet or roll of film first. So Now I have to waste my film to make sure your product works the way it was designed to? Lastly, the arm cuffs aren't very tight at all. They're pretty loose unlike the Paterson bag, which had a pretty good grip on my arms. This is yet another inferior quality product that bankrupts film photographers because they're the only one's making something like it. God forbid we get what we pay for. If you buy this, my advice would be to handle it with great care to make it last as long as possible.

question

What are the dimensions of the opening for the magazine?
Asked by: Brenda M.
About 14 inches. It takes an 8x10 sheet film holder easily. (although it's VERY tight with the holder and a box of film in the changing bag.) It's fairly comfortable loading 4x5 film though.
