I've purchased the $40 Impact version of this for years and have to replace it every 2-3 years depending on use. Figured I'd try the twice as expensive version with a 5 year warranty. I was really surprised on how thing the metal spring band was. Trying to hold this in any manor or direction with any sort of wind was almost impossible. It would just bend, warp and collapse in my hands. Never mind trying to hold it off the ground or flat in the air from one end, it just collapses. The Impact version's metal band is almost twice as thick and holds it's shape, even holding it out flat from one end. Yes it's heavier but I'd rather have the strength and rigidity so it holds up in the wind. I also hate the white wrapping as it will instantly get stained by grass and dirt. The black wrap at least keeps it looking clean and new. Final note for all makers, Please make one end with leather, fake or real, so the fabric doesn't tear after holding it down against the ground.

With this diffuser, you would lose about 1.25 stops of light.

You can clean reflectors a little with a damp cloth, but ultimately they are consumables that will get dirty or fall apart and need to be replaced.

How much stops of light does it cut down?

This diffuser cuts 1 stop of light. Firing an Alienbees B800 at full power into a 46 inch softlighter, I get a reading of f/11 at 8 feet (ISO 200). With the LiteDisc Diffuser in place the reading is f/8 at 8 feet (ISO 200). I hope that helps!
