The ability to shape and control the light from a flash source is essential. This is one of many different reflectors available for the Photogenic line of flash heads and monolights. It is used for lighting a background evenly, and softly.

Photogenic PL3R Reviews
Construction Quality is Inferior
I bought a pair earlier this year. The shell is attached to the ring with about 4 very shallow and flimsy and rivets, that are very roughly sanded down flat (not smooth!). On both of mine the rivet on one edge had failed by pulling through the material that makes up the shell. As well the edges of the shell are rough. I haven't had a chance to repair the failed rivets yet and I haven't used them - so I won't comment if they perform as advertised. I live in Canada and figured it was easier to fix them myself rather than deal with the hassle of shipping them back and dealing with taxes and custom's duties. I did send photos of the units to both B&H and Photogenic. Didn't hear back from Photogenic.
Reflector works well
I am new to this type of reflector but from my limited use so far, this reflector works just fine.
