Umbrellas soften, broaden, and diminish the light output of any tungsten or flash light source. Umbrellas with a white interior will soften and weaken light more than an umbrella with a silver lining. A white umbrella without a black backing may also be used as a makeshift softbox, although the use of the light will not be as efficient as with a lightbox.

Choosing umbrella size is determined by the size of the subject, and the strength of the light supply being used. Choosing an umbrella surface is as subjective as choosing a paint and brush.

Fabrics are color balanced to all Photoflex soft boxes, panels and discs.
Adjust the shape of the highlight and the light coverage from round, to square to rectangular.
This size is perfect for a 1-2 person head, or head-to-waist shot, or a 4x6 ft product setup.

Umbrella with Adjustable Frame-45" is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over a stop brighter than my Westcott I did a side-by-side comparison between this umbrella and my 43 Westcott Soft Silver Collapsible Compact umbrella. I used a Sekonic L358 flash meter to measure both of them from the same distance (about 15-20 feet), using the same flash on the same stand. This umbrella gave a reading of f/6.3 @ ISO200, while the Westcott could only manage f/4. That means I have a stop and a third more light when using this umbrella - which is HUGE. It's solidly built, super shiny, and very efficient. If you shoot outdoor portraits, stop shopping for other umbrellas - save yourself a bunch of time and just buy these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella! I recently bought my first one of these, just to try them out. I bought it from B&H because they are hard to find in Montreal and about twice the price. I find this is a very neat product. Much of my work is done on location with just a couple of monolights and/or several portable flashes mounted off-camera. As I like to keep my location kit simple and light and quick to se up, I prefer using umbrellas to softboxes wherever possible. This Photoflex adjustable frame umbrella illuninates very well and is easy to adjust and set up. you can buy several for the cost and weight of a single softbox, and my location kits will henceforth have a few in each.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Umbrella This product produces a large bright light spread thats good for full body portraits. I've tried it with a speedlite and a continuous light and it works with both, but brighter with the speedlite. The product is nicely built... The umbrella material seems durable, the shaft is metal and the ribs are flexible fiberglass so it should last a long time. You could probably use is as a rain umbrella if you wanted to. I'm just sayin'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Umbrella This is a very well made umbrella and is very easy to use. The components are very sturdy, and the reflective and backing cloths are heavy material that appears to be very durable. The shape adjustments are very simple and it has velcro hold downs which aid in the configuration. Costs about the same as my old umbrellas, but is much more versatile and just as sturdy if not more. It is a very good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella with a sturdy build I'm using it currently for portraits and band photography. It definately covers a single person, and even could light a group of 5 The build is sturdy, and it's very compact when folded. Sb-800 is great for it too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Umbrella I use this for shooting small groups with my strobe and it actually gives me almost 2 stops more light at 10ft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versitle and rugged I use this on location photo shoots where I am not the most gentle person with some of my gear. This item has so far taken everything well that I have thrown at it. I also keep it packed in a bag that also has light stands so far not a mark on it. Works as intended and handles the abuse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I have different sizes of this umbrella, I like shooting through it with half of the black turned back. That way the light is more controllable and I can keep the light off of the backdrop if I don't want it there.
