The Quad EQ from Mackie provides four channels of 30-band, graphic Adaptive-Q equalization, without the ripple and gain-boosting artifacts found on traditional Constant-Q units. LED display ladders provide a highly detailed picture of the unit's effect on the output signal.
Sound-pressure level (SPL) and SMAART real-time analyzer (RTA) meters are no longer expensive add-ons, but part of a fully integrated, user-friendly package. The Quad EQ includes a bundled SIA reference microphone, as well as a dedicated reference microphone input.
With the simple press of the "Mic" button, the built-in RTA will display what's going on in the room, on the same ladders as the EQ filters. In this way, the sound engineer can simultaneously view his/her EQ settings, versus what the results are. And since RTA data is post EQ, if feedback occurs, the offending frequencies can be quickly seen and cut.
