The Line 6 VARIAX 600 is a unique six-string electric guitar with a custom tremolo bridge, featuring a double-cutaway basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, and a 22-fret maple fingerboard, along with a piezo pickup, and 50 sound models based on classis electric and acoustic guitars, banjos, resonators, and an electric sitar.
The piezo pickup on the VARIAX 600 essentially captures the vibrations of each individual string, and those signals are processed through the onboard software algorithms that comprise the physical and electronic properties of the modeled guitars. The instruments are chosen with a Model selector knob, the variations accessed via a 5-position pickup selector switch, and modified by the standard volume and tone control knobs.
The VARIAX 600 is equipped with both a 1/4" TRS analog out, and an RCA SPDIF digital connector. The proprietary footswitch, to which the guitar connects and uses as a power source, acts as both an audio conduit to a guitar amplifier via 1/4", and either a mixing console or acoustic guitar amplifier via XLR.
The VARIAX 600 is the product of much research and programming expertise, developed by a pioneering company at the forefront of sound modeling technology for the guitar. Players will appreciate both the sonic recreations of the software, and the nice playing feel of the hardware, either for live performance or in the recording studio.
