Korg TR-88 Overview

The TR-88 from Korg is a music workstation keyboard with a wealth of features designed for professional use. Featuring 88 weighted hammer action keys for an acoustic piano feel, the TR-88 uses the acclaimed Hyper Integrated Synthesis System and 48kHz sampling for sound quality that exceeds CD standards. A wide variety of voices, drum sounds, and patterns are included to meet any performance or production need.

Numerous effects and modulation sources are built into the TR-88 for further customization of your sound. A 16-track sequencer with a capacity of 200,000 notes and up to 200 songs is included for recording in real or step time. Editing tools are also provided for ultimate control over your work. MIDI and USB connectors are provided for connection to other digital instruments or to your computer.

Alternate Modulation provides a total of 42 types of modulation that give you full control over the manipulation of sounds to create a nuanced, articulated performance.
Effects
89 types of effects are provided, many of which offer real-time parameter modulation, to add richness and depth to your playing.
Programs and Combinations
Korg has included 512 preloaded programs and 384 combinations to provide you with the most realistic and versatile sounds and accompaniment.
16-Track Sequencer
The 16-track sequencer can hold up to 200,000 notes and records in real or step time. The tracks that you record can also be edited to get your song just right.
SD Card Slot
The SD card slot accepts cards up to 1GB, letting you store sequencer song data and share your work with other users on a computer.
Dual Arpeggiators
The dual arpeggiators offer five basic preset patterns that can be combined with your original patterns for a total of 216 patterns stored in the internal memory.
RPPR Function
The Realtime Pattern Play/Recording (RPPR) function lets you assign a sequenced phrase or pattern to a single key for quick and easy playback.
MIDI and USB
MIDI and USB connectors are included for connection to other digital instruments or computers. MIDI over USB is fully supported, so there's no need for your computer to have specialized MIDI connectors.
Controllers
A pitch/modulation joystick and assignable knobs, switches, and pedal jacks are provided for full system control.
Backlit LCD
The 240 x 96 backlit LCD displays a variety of information.
Upgradable
The optional EXB-SMPL upgrade board can be added to the TR-88 for full sampling capabilities. It adds a SCSI connector, 1/4" input jacks, and includes 16MB of sample RAM to get you started.
