The CS-80V from Arturia is a virtual reproduction of the legendary Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer, considered by many as the ultimate polyphonic synthesizer. The CS-80 was introduced in 1976, and the price tag of $6,900 meant it was out of reach of most musicians. The 220 lbs. weight also made it sometimes hard to use on the stage, but the qualities of the instrument, considered as Japans first great synthesizer, made it immediately famous in the music industry.
The CS-80V offers all the features of the original synthesizer, plus some innovative features, taking the original design to a new elevated level. A modulation matrix provides a choice of 12 sources and 38 destinations. Also new are a multi-timbral mode, an arpeggiator and a stereo delay. The plug-in comes loaded with more than 400 presets made by a selection of talented sound designers.
The CS-80 was popularized in the late 70's and early 80's by artists and groups that include Toto, Jean-Michel Jarre, Keith Emerson, Stevie Wonder and Vangelis.
