at full charge, how long does the UPS produce power for you? I am considering using this for sensitive computer equipment that runs anywhere from 600-900W. If I lose power to the room this equipment is in, how long can I expect the UPS to produce power for my computer equipment? Thanks!
Asked by: David
Thank you for your inquiry. Assuming the computer would draw 900W of power you would get around 7.7 minutes of runtime. If it draws less then it will get more runtime on the computer.

question

Can I use the APC Smart-UPS 3000VA with LCD (120V) or any similar units for A/V equipment (ie: TV, DVD Player, Cable Box, Surround Sound System, etc. & if so, how long will it last?
Asked by: Edward M.
Yes, the UPS can be used for backup power for your listed items. How long it will last depends upon the number and wattage of the items you attach to the unit as well as their power state when the power failure occurs. Our use of this unit is in a wiring closet where it supports: routers, managed switch, private telephone switch, Coaxial Amplifier, Computer and DVD equipment.

question

I need to provide power to the school pa system during any outage. What do you suggest for the proper size UPS?
Asked by: douglas C.
UPS size is determined by the amount of load to be carried by the UPS. Before you can identify the UPS size you MUST determine the PA system load. The easiest way to do this is to add up all the electrical component loads in the PA system. The electrical loads can be determined by identifying ALL the PA components used in the PA system then, identifying the component's nameplate rating (i.e., load) for each component. Electrical engineers would call this process a PA system load study. The component's nameplate rating is usually identified on the component or by checking the manual that came with the component or with the manufacturer. If this is not possible and the component's nameplate rating (i.e., load) cannot be identified, you could estimate the component's load by going online and finding a similar component's load rating. Once you have ALL the component load values identified, add up all of the loads, then add 15% (OR additional if future expansion is possible), The resultant total load would be your UPS size. Hope this helps!
