Gitzo GLEVEL2 Reviews

Pricey but works well

As a functional piece of gear I have zero complaints. The level works well, stays out of the way, and is well protected when the tripod is collapsed and stowed. As others have said, it is surprising that Gitzo does not provide a level on tripods, given their quality.

Works great!

question

I am feeling kinda dumb. I just purchased this item from you. I understand that it goes on the bottom of the centre column of my 1227. the problem is that I seem to have lost my hook that apparently was once on the bottom of the column. The question is this - how do I get the bubble level to stay on at the base of the column. I was going to go to the hardware store and buy the appropriate nut and washer and hope that this would do the trick. Perhaps you have a more appropriate solution?Let me know. I'd like to put that bubble level to work. Maybe i should just have purchased a level that you can put on the hotshot of the camera.

You actually need to unscrew the weight hook in order to attach the bubble level onto the center column, and then normally you would replace the hook. The way that it is secured in place is with the spring loaded clip at the bottom of the column, and so if this piece is still on your tripod, then you will be fine to use this level.

question

Can anybody confirm if this is compatible with traveler series 2 tripod GT2545T which does not have weight hook?
Asked by: Jim D.
I own a GT2545T with a Hook. Provided you can unscrew the center column end cap (which I presume you should be able to, in order to reverse the center column) you should be able to use this level. It is inserted between the center column and the end cap. Diameter of the screw on the cap is slightly larger than 1 cm.Took me 2 months to figure out how to install that level!

question

Can anybody confirm if their bubble level is accurate? I bought one today from a local seller and am pretty certain it is not. What you need to do is get the tripod level, then pan the ball head around 360 degrees while checking if the camera is still level using the camera electronic level.
Asked by: Jon
I just recently bought one and just went and checked it and yes mine is accurate.
