This 100 pack of Negative Pockets from Print File is designed to hold a 5 x 7" negative or transparency and protect against fingerprints and scratches. At the top of the pocket there is a writing panel for notes. The top sheet is made of 3 mil polyethylene, and the bottom sheet is 1.8 mil thick. The back is thinner so that you can perform high-quality scans without removing the negative from the pocket. The negative won't snag because of the strong seams in the pocket. The Pocket has passed PAT (Photographic Activity Test) for archival soundness and contains no PVC.

I bought these to store my prized 5 by 7-inch glass negatives from the 19th century. I was told that my negatives would fit in these, but they don't. I tried stretching the plastic, but the negatives simply can not squeeze in so I've wasted $19. Poor me.

I have 4 by 7-inch glass negatives from the 19th century. Will these be ideal for archival storage?
Hi Tom, I think they should be fine. The narrow (5 inch) side is the open end of the sleeves so I imagine the 4 inch glass even though thicker than film would fit comfortably and the spare space on the long (7") side would I imagine be more than enough to accommodate the thickness of glass. You may find the fit (4 inch glass in 5 inch sleeve) a bit loose but that shouldn't be a problem if the glass in the sleeves is stored firmly in a box. Hope this helps, Harry
