Iomega 33349 Overview

The StorCenter 1 TB Network Hard Drive from Iomega is a high-capacity drive with an interface that allows it to be connected via wired Gigabit Ethernet or 802.11g Wireless Ethernet and RAID data protection.

In addition to providing simple network storage, the StorCenter can serve as a network server for up to two USB printers or USB 2.0 storage devices. You can also use the hard drive in conjunction with a Digital Media Adapter to stream video, music or photos directly to your home entertainment system without the need for an additional computer.

The drive is easily integrated into your network, making it easy to share files among users. The included Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software even allows you to back up data from your network. These features make it an excellent solution for media streaming, data backup or general storage in small networks.

1000 GB Capacity
1000 GB of capacity allows for storage of approximately 75 hours of uncompressed DV digital video, the equivalent of 212 4.7GB DVD-Video discs, or up to 250,000 MP3 files.
RAID Data Protection
The StorCenter can be configured in RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 5 configurations. RAID 0 provides the fastest access to your data and full 1 TB storage capacity, but offers no protection in the event of an internal disk failure. RAID 1 mirrors all the data, cutting the storage capacity in half, but ensuring that data will be intact if a drive fails. RAID 5 gives you 750 GB of usable space by using 1 of the 4 internal drives as a parity drive. If an internal drive fails you can rebuild the data using the parity drive once a new drive is installed.
Wired and Wireless Ethernet Interface
The standard ethernet interface allows users to access data and administrators to remotely administer the drive through a standard LAN connection, making it easy to add to your existing network infrastructure. The drive also features 802.11g wireless networking, making it easy to add to your wireless network.
Media Streaming
The StorCenter allows for media streaming support via the UPnP protocol, allowing you to easily stream video, photos and music to your home entertainment system when used in conjunction with a Digital Media Adapter device. This further blurs the line between your computer and lets you more easily integrate your digital entertainment media with your home theatre system.
Share Data
The ethernet interface allows you to easily integrate the drive into your network and share data without the need of purchasing an expensive server.
