I have a Zoom h4n recorder and I accidentally ordered Shure wireless CVL lavs. Is this what I need to convert them to wired? If so, any tips with settings?
Asked by: Jennifer
Yes, the Electro-Voice TXA TA4-Male to XLR-Male Adapter can be used to connect the Shure CVL Lavalier Microphone to the XLR input on the Zoom H4n Pro Portable Handy Recorder. The TXA adapter will convert the mic's TA4-female plug to XLR 3-pin male and will also allow you to use phantom power from the H4n Pro to power the mic. The TXA adapter will convert phantom power to the appropriate amount of plug-in power required for the CVL to function properly.

Will this work with Shure PGA98H?
Asked by: Daniel Megan
Yes, the Electro-Voice TXA - TA4-Male to XLR-Male Adapter is compatible for use with the Shure PGA98H-TQG Clip-On Cardioid Condenser Horn Mic with TA4F (B&H # SHPGA98HTQG). The TXA adapter will convert the TA4F plug to standard 3-pin XLR and allows you to use phantom power from mic input on the mixer, amplifier, or recorder to power the PGA98H microphone.

question

Will this work to use a SHURE headset wireless mic in a hardwired situation? I have the wireless headset but don't want to use the wireless rig. I want to plug it directly into my mixer.
Asked by: Daniel W.
Per the EV included paperwork - "TXA will not function with other manufacturers TAF4 terminated microphones." I can definitely say that it is not working with my Shure WL185 lavalier mic with or without phantom power, and no amount of gain seems to get anything coming through it. This would have been good to know prior to ordering it.

question

Hoping to use this with a crown condenser headset mic. Will phantom power (48v) pass through this adapter?
Asked by: Anonymous
My experience is yes. Problem is that most microphones like the Countryman run at a lot lower voltage than 48v and therefore the mic might/will be damaged.I didn't use it with EV mics so I don't how they respond. As a note, I bought it as a test bench adapter so I could test repaired mics without having to use a belt pack/receiver/amp to test the mic. Just plug it in to a mixer and see its it works. Since I use countryman I modified the 48 v to a lower voltage.
