ATN, a leader in night vision optical devices, proudly announce the Elcan SpecterIR. ATN's painstaking efforts in offering night vision weapon sights have brought a new long-range dimension to their already successful lineup of scopes and sights. The Elcan SpecterIR features a completely passive thermal imaging weapon sighting system which allows users to identify the heat signatures of individuals or objects. No external light source is required, and this scope may be used in complete darkness, daylight, fog or smoke. Thermal imaging devices prove to be an enormous advantage over traditional image intensifying systems. Any heat-emitting objects such as humans and recently-operated vehicles stand out dramatically against their surroundings, defeating camouflage and other methods of visual concealment. When lives are at stake, who can afford to have less than the best?
The SpecterIR is an ELCAN type mount weapon sight, and is built to the same legendary rugged standards as other ELCAN weapon sighting systems. This type of quick-detachable mount allows fast attachment to Picatinny rails and weapon receivers. Once sighted-in to a particular weapon, the sight may be interchanged with other ELCAN optical and electro-optical sights zeroed for the same weapon in a matter of seconds and without noticeable change in point of impact. It is a shock and water-resistant sight that will withstand the forces generated by repeated recoil from M240 and M249 machine guns. The electronic reticle provides quick and precise targeting of hostile threats by changing color to provide maximum contrast against the background.
