The Night Optics USA D-740-3ST represents a combination of years of experience and the latest technological developments. The all-new design utilizes space-age materials to reduce the weight and improve recoil resistance. Standard features include a waterproof, nitrogen purged housing, a Mil-Dot illuminated red or amber-on-green reticle, and high-grade multi-coated optics. With guaranteed zero retention on heavy caliber weapons (including .50 BMG class), these are the systems of choice among military and law Enforcement professionals that have finally become available on the commercial market. The D-740-3ST is built with third generation plus night vision technology, featuring a specified resolution of 51-64 lp/mm. Third generation NVDs are the choice of professionals world wide. They offer a longer life span, greater clarity and lower levels of bright light blooming. This scope is rugged, lightweight, and accurate, making it an excellent choice for military & law enforcement night vision specialists. The red or amber on green reticle assures quick and efficient target acquisition, while the 1/4 MOA precision adjustments offer surgically precise shot placement. The low profile Weaver rail mount offers versatility, for use on military and civilian weapons. This D-740-3ST is a tactical night vision weapon sight you can count on.
There are many different variables that influence the distance one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and this varies by manufacturer, so ultimately the generation of the intensifier tube is much more relevant than any quoted statistic when determining the maximum viewing range.
All night vision devices sold by B&H have mechanisms in place to protect the intensifier tube from a sudden burst of bright light, but this does not mean that bright light doesn't damage the device. Despite protection devices, bright light in any form is never good for the longevity and performance of night vision image intensifier tubes.
