Archival Methods 01-031 overview

  • 1Description

The Archival Methods 9.5 x 12.5 x 3" Drop-Front Tan Archival Storage Box can hold a wide variety of material safely and securely. This box is archival in design and is made from heavyweight ArchivalGrade boxboard. Use it for anything from old newsprint to pamphlets.

We all have boxes and boxes of old images that we inherited from our families. Most of these photos are usually stored in attics and closets in old-fashioned cardboard boxes that are subject to degradation from humidity, water and other elements. Archival Methods Storage Boxes are high-quality containers not only perfect for today's digital revolution but for preserving your older traditional prints.

With Archival Methods, your precious memories will remain intact and allowed to be safely passed on to future generations.

Archival Methods Storage Boxes are metal-edged drop-front boxes that consist of a removable top and a bottom with a hinged "drop front" panel at the long side; this feature "opens" the bottom section so contents can be inserted, removed or examined safely, without bending or flexing the contents in any way; the risk of "dog-earing" is minimized
Metal edge clamps are corrosion treated in black polyester coating with a wax-free polyester finish on the blind side; these clamps provide rigidity and high stacking strength
Archival Methods boxes are manufactured from heavyweight ArchivalGrade boxboard

    Archival Methods 01-031 reviews

    01-031 Drop Front Archival Storage Box (9.5 x 12.5 x 3", Tan) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for general storage of prints I don't make prints anymore (can have them done and shipped online) but I have several hundred prints that are either a) family photos, or b) stills from movies. This type of storage box has been convenient and effective because you can store the prints or photos in mounts (up to the size of the box). I usually just mark the outside of the box with a general description of the contents and put it on a safe shelf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy Product I purchased 4 of these boxes to store a variety of photos our family has accumulated: family/school portraits, class/team pictures, etc. I had been looking around other big box stores first, but did not find them to be very sturdy for storage or stacking purposes. B&H prices were only marginally higher, but given their boxes' photo-safe properties, reinforced corners, front opening and excellent reviews, buying these seemed like a no-brainer. I am happy I got them, and plan on buying larger sizes for geneology/family history documents, and smaller ones for snapshots. If I had to state a negative, it would be that it is not super-easy to place the lid on while holding up the drop front. Like another reviewer, I had been under the impression it was hinged for some reason. Not a deal-breaker though. My mission was to safely sort and store photos. Mission accomplished.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple It seems fairly sturdy, and fits a fair number of photos, which I interleave with archival tissue. The only thing I didn't realize, is that the lid lifts off, but I expected it would be hinged. It can be a little tricky getting the lid on, as you must hold the front flap in position while working the lid on. It's a tight fit, but I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from affordable archival box This box serves the purpose of storing my small collection of larger sized photos when laid flat. Based on my research, this was also the most affordable option while meeting my requirements for an archival quality (acid/lignin-free) with sturdy construction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my needs...a good product. Use this Storage box for my negatives, which is both durable and is of archival quality. Perfect for what I need to make my images last through the ages. Would recommend it to anyone seeking a way to store negatives or prints of any kind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy! This box is very sturdy. I use it to store old family prints, and so far, I'm happy. I also bought their slide and print storage boxes direct from the manufacturer.
