The best mount for my AKG 414

Works with shotgun microphones too!

I have 2 of these that came with my 414TL2 mics. I put them on a pair of K&M boom stands and they never come off. They work great with my Neumann KM185 (hyper cardiod version of the popular 184.) These shock mounts also work great with my Neumann KMR 81i shotgun mic. Just remember that the boom poles used for film have a much smaller screw on adaptor. Some boom poles do use the 5/8 as opposed to the 3/8 inch thread. This shock mount is made of metal in all the necessary places. Which is why I'm posting this. Other brands that cost half the price and made exclusively for film are mostly plastic and considered flimsy. Lots of reviews about them breaking quickly. These will save you in the long run. However, they will be heavier that the plastic ones. And I have no experience attaching a blimp to one. Other than that, oh yeah, they won't hold a Shure 57 or 58. But those come with mic clips. The part to be careful of is these screw threads. On one of mine it's starting to strip, literally after 6 years of heavy usage. That us why I bought the K&M stands that they permanently reside on.

The AKG H 85 Universal Shock Mount (BH # AKH85) has a female-threaded metal receiver where it would screw onto the microphone stand.

Will the Lewitt LCT 640 TS fit in this shock-mount? Problem with the Lewitt shock-mount is it doesn't allow for rotation of microphone useful in positioning in Blumlein applications.
Asked by: Jeremy
The Lewitt LCT 640 TS will not fit the AKG H 85 Universal Shock Mount.
