Archival Methods 53-001 overview

  • 1Description

This Archival Methods Metal Desiccant Canister is a re-usable canister perfect for extracting harmful moisture within small spaces, boxes and containers.

The greatest damage to stored images is moisture. By using this simple and reasonably priced desiccant, your photos, papers and other items will be guarded against the devastating effects of moisture and humidity.

Note: Archival Methods makes this desiccant packaged in two different ways. The metal canisters can be reconstituted in a warm vented oven or the plastic canister in a microwave.

Protects up to three cubic feet of sealed space per canisters
Simply include one of these canisters with your documents or artifacts and water vapor is contained within the desiccant canister to maintain a safe relative humidity
When silica gel turns "pink" you can restore the metal canisters in a warm vented oven or for the plastic canister in a microwave (follow included instructions)

Desiccant Canisters (Metal Case) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've bought two of these The first time was about 4 years ago. It still works great, so when I decided I needed a second, there was no doubt that this is what I was getting. I chose the metal can over the plastic because I prefer to use the oven over the microwave. I'm also very happy with the beating the can will take - it will deform, but I've never had any desiccant leak and that is what matter. I keep a can in my LowePro Rover AW between the outer shell and the padded pouch for my gear. I've never had to worry about moisture (not that I'm reckless) and that includes trips where I've been rained or snowed on quite a bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, exactly as advertised It's very humid in my neck of the woods this time of year and I've been rained on a bit while shooting outdoors twice in recent weeks. I added a couple of these desiccant canisters to my equipment cabinet and they really help to dry everything out and keep the humidity down in the cabinet..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suitable for Tropical Conditions I place these cannisters in plastic storage boxes that hold my cameras and lenses. There are very effective in combatting the moisture that results from living in a city which averages 130 inces of rain each year. I also use them in my firearms cases for the same purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of mind I have three of these canisters in my various bags. Mold and fungus are ugly things to deal with so the desiccant in my opinion is a no brainer insurance.
