The Reamping Kit from Radial Engineering is a kit that consists of the X-Amp reamplifier, a J48 active direct box, an AC power adapter, and a carrying case. The idea behind the kit is to supply you with everything you need to carry out the reamping recording technique. An example of reamping is recording an electric guitar with no amp or effects direct into a recorder (using the J48 direct box), and sending the guitar's signal out of the recorder at line-level into the X-Amp, and then sending the guitar's signal to two separate amplifiers.
The X-Amp is an active reamping device that allows an engineer or producer to take a pre-recorded guitar track that would be typically at line level, and output a guitar level signal that can then be sent back to an amplifier/speaker or an effects box. This opens the door to explore new musical sounds and spur on the creative process since the unit will drive a guitar amplifier as if the player was still plugged into it.
The J48 is an active direct box. It's been designed for professional stage and recording studio use. It can be powered from 48V phantom power or batteries, has rugged 14-gauge steel construction and extended, distortion-free headroom via a 10V internal rail voltage capacity. Ground lift, phase reverse and 80Hz recessed filter switches are also standard.
