Radial Engineering ProAV2 Overview

The ProAV2 from Radial Engineering is a passive direct box designed for multimedia applications with the audio-video integrator in mind. The unit provides full two-channel stereo functionality and includes 1/4" for instruments and RCA and 3.5mm connectors for consumer electronics and computers.

Custom wound transformers are employed that are able to withstand exceptionally hot levels while maintaining linearity from 20 Hz to 18.5 kHz. The resulting smooth Bessel curve is warm and natural, making the AV2 particularly adept at handling digital sources that can sound harsh.

Transformer isolation adds the benefit of eliminating ground loops that cause audio hum and buzz and video hum bars or snow. The ProAV2 is ideal for events where full stereo operation is required.

Radial Engineering ProAV2 Reviews

Recommended to me and well worth it

After dealing with some buzzing issues under similar but different circumstances, this ProAV2 unit was recommended. The result? It just works, plain and simple. Be sure to plan for the fact that although it will accept ¼, RCA, and ⅛ in, only XLR goes out. It is solid and well designed for durability. I fully expect to have this unit provide dependable service for year to come. I'm glad it was recommended to me and I'm recommending it to you.

Handle almost any problem with this

I think I could plug a toaster in and get good audio out... seriously, I shoot in Churches, hotels and other locations where I have to or need to tap into the soundboard I find. Sometimes I get lucky and it's easy, sometimes the only thing is a phono plug out that's hot as heck. On occasion there is a ground loop that's has to be fixed. If you have this little box, you've got that converted, covered and fixed. Built like a tank, this thing is not delicate, you can drive a nail with it so it'll stand up to a lot of abuse with no problem. If you have to deal with a lot of different inputs and outputs, this packs most conversion solutions into one box and lets you tap in for mono or stereo ouptut.

When you buy a Radial DI for a specific application in the studio or on stage, you can always know that this DI will always meet, if not beat, your expectations.

Immediately got rid of buzz

I’ve been using Radial for almost 20 years and I can’t say my boxes have ever failed. I bought two of these AV2 boxes to see if their circuitry would get rid of a buzzing noise I’ve been having for months now in my home A/V studio. I connect line outs from my sound console to my main DSLR and always would always get undesired noise. The boxes immediately solved the issue. You MUST get these if you’re experiencing similar issues. Radial always prevails.

yep, it's a radial

Awesome little box. I use it a lot doing freelance live sound when people throw consumer grade output at me. iPads, phones, mp3 players, anything with a headphone jack is fair game to get clean mic level signal. Also good for stereo keys, mono bass, and has rca inputs I have yet to try out. Independent lifts for the stereo pair and ground switch. Can also be used as a hammer or thrown deadly missile.

A trifle pricy but it seems to be a very sturdy box. Worked really well for coverting headphone out from iPad and iPhone to mic level on both mixer and direct mic inputs on speakers. Used it for intermission music through mixer also used it for simple party music setup - iPod -> ProAV2 -> EV Live X Powered Speakers
