The MPX10 from LA Audio is a single rack-space channel strip, that features an ultra low-noise microphone preamp, noise reduction, compressor and an EQ section. The unit is an ideal front end for hard disc recorders or for a DAW. It will also function equally well in a live situation, where it can provide feedback suppression, vocal leveling and comprehensive tone shaping.
Each section of the channel strip has input and output break-jacks that allow the user to re-configure the MPX10's signal path, such as putting the EQ before the compressor. It also means that the unit can be used as four separate signal processors. The compressor also features an insert point for patching in the EQ section (or any EQ for that matter) to provide frequency dependant compression.
Noise reduction is achieved utilizing a simple downwards expander with variable threshold. The compressor section includes variable threshold and ratio with program dependent attack and release settings. A de-esser switch makes the compressor more sensitive to sibilance. The EQ section features two parametric mid frequencies and fixed high- and low-frequency cut/boost.
