Rated 5 out of 5 by from RAYNOX HDP-9000EX 1.8X HD TELEPHOTO LENS I USE THE LENS FOR MY JVC HD900U CAMCORDER MAINLY FOR WILDLIFE. IT WORKS EXTREMELY WELL FOR THE BALD EAGLE MOVIES!!!!! IT INCREASES THE 23 ZOOM FROM 667MM TO 1200MM. IT IS A VERY SHARP HIGH DEFINITION LENS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE TWO DAY SHIPPING.$SOME MIGHT NOT APPRECIATE VIGNETTING, BUT FROM THAT POINT TO FULL ZOOM I WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED. I AM GETTING THOSE CLOSEUPS!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All tele's vignette Having majored in optical engineering, all telephotos will vignette when the camera is set to wide angle. Just think about the physics of putting a lens in front of the wide angle camera lens, it is wide angle, and sees the inside cylinder of the telephoto lens. This is normal. I've had cheap tele's that make the image 2x larger, but when I look at the image, there is no additional detail when compared to a digital zoom with my software. You need a high quality telephoto lens for the higher resolution so show, otherwise you simply scale up the image with no additional image, and it looks like DVD vs HD. For wide angle attachments, it's a little easier to not lose resolution since you are throwing away power. However, I have seen too many wide angle adapters have horrific barrel distortion. You get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased We added this lens to our existing camera we use to video our church services. No light loss with it. Does the job perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Limitations Good quality but vignette occurs once you start Zooming out so make sure you are aware of it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Raynox 1.8x Telephoto conversion lens I bought this with the aim of using it with my SONY HX20V P&S camera. I am hoping that the 100mm objective lens will give more light to the small lens of the camera, and at the same time achieve a longer effective focal length. I already have the appropriate step rings and tubes etc to connect the HX20V to the converter and also a tripod collar to mount the converter to a tripod. My main interest is in taking videos of birds and I am glad that the converter is sharp even if I zoom the camera to its maximum focal length which results in an effective FL of more than 1000mm. There is no blurring at the periphery. Chromatic aberration is noticeable only in very high contrast situations like strong backlight. The main problem in this setup is in the focussing system of HX20V in video mode - there is no way to control the focus point and some sometimes, birds are not sharp whereas the background is. I also have the Raynox DCR2025Pro which give 2.2x magnification compared to the 1.8x of this lens. The DCR2025 performs similarly except that it increases the close focussing distance much more than this lens, which I do not like. Before I purchased, I searched Youtube for some example video and was confident that the item suits my need. Overall, I am happy because the lens perform as I expected in terms of letting in more light while maintaining sharpness of the P&S camera.
