Apple MA608LL/A Overview

The Mac mini with 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo CPU from Apple gives you all the power of a Macintosh computer in a small, compact desktop computer. It is powered by a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor and is loaded with 512 MB of RAM, an 80 GB SATA hard drive and Apple's slot-loading SuperDrive, an 8x speed DVD burner with support for writing 8.5 GB dual-layered discs.

The computer ships with Apple's popular iLife '06 software suite which includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, iWeb and GarageBand. Also included is Apple's innovative Front Row application, which allows you to connect your computer to a home entertainment center for use as a media player. A remote control is even included to let you more easily control Front Row.

The computer features an elegant design by Apple that is only 6.5" square by 2" high. This is all built around Intel's Core Duo architecture and powered by Mac OS X Leopard, a true 64-bit operating system.

Intel Core Duo Processor
The system is powered by an Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz processor powered by a 667 MHz frontside bus. The Core Duo features two processors on a single chip, which increases system efficiency and reduces power consumption compared to two-chip dual processor systems.
Powerful Software Bundle
The Mac mini comes pre-installed with the full version of iLife '06, giving you a full range of applications to help you get the most of your computer right out of the box. Trial versions of Microsoft Office 2004 and iWork are also included, letting you try them out and decide if you'd like to purchase them.
Front Row
Apple's Front Row software turns your Mac mini into a sleekly designed media player. Working in conjunction with the included remote control you can easily watch DVD movies and music videos, browse your iPhoto library and play music through iTunes. Integrating your entertainment center and computer is ideal for users with limited space such as a dorm room or apartment, or for those who simply want to get more out of their computer than word processing and web browsing.
Rosetta Technology
The changeover to Intel-powered Macintosh computers is made seamless with OS X Leopard's built-in Rosetta technology. You can open applications written for older PowerPC Macintosh computers without any special steps -- just click and run.
Intel GMA950 Graphics
The Intel GMA950 graphics chipset offers lightning fast graphics and powerful 3D effects. This allows you to work with crisp graphics in a variety of applications.
Dual-Layer SuperDrive
The slot-loading Superdrive allows you to burn DVDs and CDs at lightning-fast speeds, making it easy to transport and archive data from your computer. The Superdrive supports Dual Layered burning, allowing you to put up to 8.5 GB of data on a single disc.
FireWire-400 and USB 2.0 Interfaces
The Mac mini delivers FireWire-400 and USB 2.0 connections, allowing you to connect a multitude of devices to your computer.
Quiet Cooling
The Mac mini features one of the quietest and most efficient cooling systems out there, making sure that your computer doesn't create a lot of noise in your work environment.
True 64-Bit OS
The computer is pre-loaded with Mac OS X 10.5. "Leopard" is a true 64-bit operating system designed to run all the latest applications. Leopard is also backwards compatible, by running 64-bit applications side by side with 32-bit applications with no emulation mode.
Tiny Package
The Mac mini is presented in a tiny package, 6.5 x 2 x 6.5", allowing you to integrate it easily into your work environment.
Optional Protection
Apple provides 90 days of free phone support and a one-year limited warranty. You may choose to add an AppleCare Protection Plan to this package, which will extend coverage of the computer for 3-years from the original date of purchase, giving you peace of mind and ensuring that your system will run optimally for its effective life cycle. AppleCare can be purchased at any time within the first year of ownership of the computer.
