Verbatim 95355 Overview

These Verbatim DVD-R UltraLife Gold Archival Grade 4.7GB Recordable Discs come in a spindle pack of 50 and are designed to preserve family photos and home movies as well as critical corporate data. Each write-once disc is manufactured using a single reflective layer to maximize compatibility and longevity. To further extend your media lifetime, there is a hard coating on the recording side to protect the discs from scratches. Each disc uses a Metal Azo DVD recording dye to optimize read/write performance.

Single layer technology is comprised of a gold layer for long archival life. This feature provides a low initial error rate after recording which is important for long archival life and the same drive read/write compatibility as standard silver-only discs. The gold reflective layer is naturally resistant to corrosion and prevents oxygen from coming through the DVD bonding material and corroding the silver reflective layer. Silver oxidation can be a primary factor which limits the lifetime of DVD media.

Good archiving solution

These DVDs are suitable for archiving normal amounts of data with being quite sure you can read it again for many years. And normally you do not need to read that data for centuries - which would be able with M-discs. In Europe it is not that easy to get them still, so I ordered from New York.
