Translum Backdrop (Heavy Weight, 54" x 18') is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have studio product I use Translum both as a backdrop and as a transparent light diffuser. I sometimes shoot product shots of automotive parts. As a backdrop for dirty or greasy products, it cleans easily with mild solvent or with mild soap and water to it's original white color. It can also be used over a transparent box and illuminated from beneath or behind. Large sheets hung on a background stand can be used as a floor to ceiling soft box with one or two flash heads behind it. Also works well in bright sunlight on a frame as a diffusion panel. The product is durable and long lasting and is easily cleaned for reuse after a rough or abusive shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for tabletop seamless backdrops I cut the plastic sheet into 1/3's producing 3 tabletop seamless backgrounds. It looks so beautiful and I've gotten an insane amount of people complimenting my sculptures since transitioning to this material. It's very translucent, so I had to double up the bottom layer so the table wouldn't show through, that we the down side. It REALLY does let a lot of color through, so either use a white sheet of paper on the ground or double it up if you're using it on a tabletop. It's a bit more fragile than I thought it would be, but it works like a charm as long as you're gentile with it. Treat it like any valuable photography equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flexibility for my lighting solutions This product is very handy if you have the need to improvise studio / tabletop lighting solutions. It is easy to cut tailor for specific needs, while not costing an arm and leg. I have found this particularly useful in creating some customized lighting solutions for close-up / product photography applications and for toning down light sources that not easily controlled (e.g., window light, overheads,etc.).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will buy this product again Using to photograph jewelry and to create custom defusers. Also it very great to use as a background and light from the back, due to its transparency you have great flexibility with lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality and Easy to Use. I was unsure what to expect from the Translum Diffusion B'ground . When I ordered this item I was hoping to use it over a large window that allows light to flood the entire room. In the past the light has been too harsh and I've used wax paper to diffuse the strong light. Wax paper by the crate I should say ! Taping of the paper was a long, tedious process & it often tore . This diffusion B'ground is perfect and diffused the light from the extra large window beautifully. It is also extremely sturdy and will last , if treated properly , a long time. The pics turned out great and it didn't take but a few mins to add the diffusion roll to a b'drop stand and pull it down , secure bottom with sandbags and clips on top. This item is totally worth the price and then some !! It is really the perfect item and has so many other uses. I am super pleased with my purchase .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice diffused light! I use this product in the studio to shoot glassware and crystal. It transmits tungsten light and color gels thru very nicely and soft. The heavier weight keeps it in place, as long as you clamp the roll at the top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this again Translum is a little heavier than paper, but can be gently cleaned. It's makes a nice white background or diffusion material. The material is easy to cut with scissors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for product and portraits This Product is a perfect on the go solution for head shots and single portraits. I use the roll on a backdrop holder and back light the product to create a solid white background. You can also use this product to make all sorts of lighting modifiers as it does not affect the color of the light. It's easy to wipe off if dirty and does not wrinkle like paper. The only con I have really (and it's not much of a con) is that it is a little difficult to cut (if you want to cut it straight). Bottom line is that I would use this over paper any day.
