Use the black Chief CMS-003 3" Speed-Connect Fixed Extension Column to lower your projector or flat panel display an additional 3" from the ceiling. Use in combination with any 1.5" NPT ceiling plate or other accessory. It consists of a 1.5" NPT column threaded on both ends. Aluminum construction makes installation easy and saves on shipping costs. Weight capacity is 500 lb.

You need one of these at lengths starting at 3 inches, which is what I bought. Make sure you use work gloves to thread this in as deep as it goes and the mount too. Just use strong hand pressure, no other tools. It's strong and it's precision threaded.
The Chief CMA-347 Vibration Isolate works extremely well for my situation. I have it installed with the 3" extension rode by Chief to a SM-Strong Xl ceiling bracket. The installation occurred in my basement ceiling with moderate traffic above in the Family Room. This is where most of traffic would shake my Sony 6000es Laser projector. I would certainly read the manual to upgrade the components that comes with The Chief Isolate. Because you have to make sure you know the weight of your projector and it not uncompensated. It is an easy DIY project with exceptional performance & results for stabilizing your projector. I would highly recommend this Vibration Isolate.
