The Varizoom S-8170S is a Lithium Ion V-Lock mount on camera battery; it will work with most equipment utilizing the V-Lock mounting system popularized by Sony. This design allows the battery to be divided to meet domestic and international transport restrictions, while still providing high capacity. This Li-Ion battery provides a lighter, higher capacity alternative to Ni-MH and Ni-Cd.
