AMT S3G Studio overview

  • 1Description

The S3G Studio Guitar Microphone from AMT is a professional guitar microphone system that combines the S3G guitar microphone with the AP40 amplifier. The AMT S3G features a flexible gooseneck, allowing the player to position the microphone for the best possible tone reproduction. The omnidirectional polar pattern reproduces audio at a uniform frequency response. The AP40 amplifier converts the microphone to low impedance; it regulates the voltage to the microphone, and with certain models, creates an specific frequency curve. The combination results in pristine reproduction of acoustic guitar in recording applications and sound reinforcement applications.

AP40 Preamplifier
The AP40 preamplifier converts to low impedance and creates a specific frequency curve.
High SPL Handling
The system provides high SPL handling, minimizing noise while capturing transient peaks.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
The omnidirectional polar pattern reproduces audio at even frequency response at the direct and off-axis sections of the capsule.

    AMT S3G Studio reviews

S3G Studio Guitar Microphone is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from not ready for prime time I got this for my Goodall guitar, since I do not want any drilling not any battery pack inside (that's so 90's). I saw the misleading promo video of PAt Metheny and other having a great sound with AMT. I came to realize that those videos were in the studio, where you have all kinds of control. I also learned that Metheny had actually a custom job. Not exactly a real world situation here, but to be fair, the brochure explains a need for en engineer in control. From a player's perspetcive, the goose neck is so limp you can't move you guitar too much. So what is the point? Might as well get a mic on a stand. Also the nice looking blue aluminum piece that sits one the top has really sharp edges, not good for a free finger-style hand like mine. Very un welcoming. But how does it sound you might ask? Well exactly like a mic in a box sounds: boomy, with close to zero placement versatility since the goose neck is so limp. What a waist of time...The live sound man did not like either it during sound check. Maybe if we had another hour, I' d still would have to stay still...
