    Slik Lighty Pod III reviews

Lighty Pod III is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product for the price! I bought this mono pod for sports photography for an indoor volleyball tournament. I used it with my D90 with a 70-300mm lens and it held it well and was sturdy. The mono pod is light and compact however i did have one issue with this product, When photographing with the camera tilted on its side with the 70-300mm lens, because this mono pod has a screw on attachment, the weight of the camera and lens would loosen the camera from the mono pod. I easily fixed the problem by rotating the camera the other direction but this was still a hassle that made me lose some great shots. Overall this product was a great deal and a really great product for the price and i was able to take amazing photos with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Expected! I purchased this mono-pod for a trip involving air travel as an alternative to my regular tripod, a heavy duty Manfrotto. I didn't want to transport my heavy tripod, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a substitute either. The Lighty Pod, at about $ was the right price. And once I started using it, I discovered a great product, too. The ball head provides the ultimate in maneuverability. It extends easily. And it is extremely lightweight which makes it easy to pack on hikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, small and solid! I use this at all sporting events for my kids. I works great in both, video recording and taking photos. It's very compact, light, sturdy and the full length is perfect when you are in the stand. I can just hold up with one hand recording over the fans when they are standing and cheering. The price is just right if you can get with a discount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Walk and Shoot I used this for the 1st time just a few days ago and was very satisfied. I use it both as a walking stick and a monopod, I mounted a point and shoot camera and away I went. I was attending an event outdoors in the evening and as the light faded I was able to to hold the camera steady enough to take pics w/o flash. The ball head is easy to use and secure. It held it's position and didn't slip. When I went indoors, The latches work well, enabling me to fold it down to a length easy to manage in a seat. It feels sturdy and I think will hold a larger camera. I haven't tried that yet. That is next. The wrist loop could be a little bit longer, but that is minor. The foam grip is very comfortable. Good deal for the money. Another great product for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Monopod I shoot high school marching band performances, mostly at night, so a monopod was a must. The Lighty Pod allows me to shoot vertically and zoom in on individuals. The ballhead was the feature that sold me and it holds firmly. I use a Nikon D40 with battery pack and 55 to 200 zoom (no VR). Look forward to using it with longer focal lenghts. Height is also good for my 6' tall body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the most useful tools a photographer could have. This is the perfect monopod for my purposes. I shoot a lot video with my DSLR of my son and his metal band at various venues in the tristate area. A tripod would be great, but in most places impractical. This monopod solves the problem of keeping the camera steady and not taking up a lot of room. It has a comfortable height, is very easy to set up quickly and stores away easily as well. I have worked professionally for more than 40 years and can't imagine why I never got around to buying one of these until now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from When Three Legs Are Too Many I am confined to a wheel chair and using a tripod can be a real pain because with all three legs splayed, I cannot get the chair close enough to the tripod so that I can see through the view finder. The monopod now serves as the platform for helping keep my camera steady while firing off a clip of three brackets. This also means less weight for my camera assistant to lug around. The ball head is also very useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I love my pod! I learned about monopods at the very last minute before my trip so I did not get to do a lot of research before I bought this. I am very picky about the quality of an item and figured I would probably end up buying a better one at a later date. I am extremely pleased with the quality and functionality of this monopod. I am 5'9 so I wanted something that would not require me to hunker over while trying to take a picture. Fully extended this comes just above eye level then add the camera on top. Then I needed a swivel for those vertical pictures. Let me just say that my vertical pictures of geysers taken in high speed burst are incredible! I have a Panasonic Lumix so this monopod is more than capable of handling the weight. If you have a SLR, this will accommodate your needs weight wise but you should check on the diameter needed to attach it. It has a 1/4 inch screw. Let me mention the other pods that say they are made of better metals or whatever. After using this monopod, I can't see what the need would be to get something that claims it is made of better material. SLIK, in my opinion, has produced the best product with the height, swivel and quality. Also, in case you are wondering, I took this as a carry-on on the airplane with no problem. I called TSA after reading that pool cues were not allowed.
