Sennheiser MZW 60-1 Reviews
Great Blimp
Sennheiser makes a solid blimp. I own the grip/suspension system as well, which I bought outside of B&H. I'd say the only competition for this outfit are the Rycote windscreens. Sennheiser's build quality is solid and I prefer the way that the plastic and screen fabric is woven together. I work in a film department and we have an example of this outfit that has really stood the test of time. The end cap only removes on one end (rear). This cap is really tight fitting. It takes some finessing to get it on straight. Functionally it seems the only drawback of how the thing is designed. Price is steep. I managed to put a system together for less than the cost of a new grip/blimp system, did this by purchasing the grip used, and the blimp from B&H. But I was familiar with the design and with good handling and care, I think it is one of the most durable solutions on the market.
Light Weight but a Heavy Hitter
I am a professional sound recordist. The MZW-601 is a work of art for dealing with wind noise. It fits perfectly with the MZS20-1 pistol grip. If you purchase the hair wind screen , there will be very little if any wind noise present in your recordings. This device is an absolute necessity in field recording. The only part I did not like was the screw on back assembly. It fits very tight and when you are on the run and assembling, it could slow you down to a crawl getting the pieces in place correctly.
