The Sony DFS-800 Standard Definition DME Switcher combines superb digital effects capability with an eight-input digital video switcher in a compact package. This unit offers input expansion, multiple chromakey, frame memory and a six channel DME unit.
Upgradable Input/Output
This unit offers an optional upgrade from the standard eight SDI inputs to sixteen SDI inputs. The user can switch between sixteen sources for a huge live production or selecting from many sources in an editing application. There are optional analog input and output boards available for cross-over studios.
Frame Memory Function
Frame still stores can be captured and stored in a two channel frame memory; with a 100 image storage capacity, these images can be recalled and used within the DME application.
Standard Effects
Standard transitions are provided to mix and wipe the video along with over 100 preset wipe patterns. Joy stick movement such as position and size with rotation give the user a performance edge.
3D DME
A six channel DME system offers 3D transitions such as page turn, ripple and swirl plus the user can enhance this by adding lighting effects.

Control Panel
The control panel is equipped with program and preset rows, fader lever and a 3-axis joystick with parameter display. When utilizing a VGA monitor and a mouse the user can operate complex combination functions in a "GUI intuitive manner".
Keying
The six level keyer consists of four mix and effect keyers and two downstream keyers for ultimate flexibility. This function operates within 4:4:4 processing making masking, edge and shadow effects clean as higher level switchers. Independent keyers can be assigned to a DME channel for PIP and flying 3D keying.
