Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says...and very very well! Using this has made my 56 flash, well, usable. The recycle time was terribly long and the batteries lasted for a very short time without the pack. With the pack, I've done 2 multi-hour shoots on one set of batteries (10 total - 6 in the pack, 4 in the flash). The recycle time is so quick, I can easily shoot off 4 shots at a time (the flash becomes a bit less powerful with each successive shot, but the images are still totally usable). I do think the unit is slightly over-priced. The electronics inside cannot be that sophisticated, but I am very happy with it and very glad I purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Let me begin with saying that I am professional event photographer in Miami, FL so that you have an idea of what I do use this product for. I bought this adapter to go along with my HVL-58AM flash, which is an amazing flash all in itself. However, I needed to use several bursts of flash to be able to capture all of those one shot moments that come along during the course of weddings and receptions. Without the adapter I would be able to get maybe two consecutive shots and the next exposures would be too dark. I would also get an overheat message on the flash as well. Now with this adapter I have not had any of those problems. I can shoot several consecutive shots for long periods of time without any overheating or dark exposures. The extra batteries drastically improve your recycle time and don't tax the batteries inside of the flash nearly as much. I would recommend using high quality batteries in both your flash and the adapter to insure optimal performance. Sony rechargeable Lithium ion is what works for me. Overall, this is an amazing product and is a must have for any event photographer that will be shooting indoors. It doesn't even take up much space in my camera bag. It is sort of long, but is very thin considering. It also comes with a nice carrying case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Great Not Quite I shoot with a flash an average of 150 shots per week. The recycle time is great but here's what keeps this from being a great tool - 1 one large lithium rechargeable batter would be much better that having 6 AA batteries. 2 the design of the battery holder should fit under the camera, the current design leaves an over hang no matter how you place it. 3 if the unit can not be made to fit on the camera then a shoulder trap should be provided like the other external power packs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works As Advertised I've only used it once so far for an awards dinner, but I was happy with the results. Most of my flashes were far less than full power (depending on distance), but recharge time was just about half of normal; meaning about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 seconds. Hint: don't use lithium's! Use only top grade Duracell's and you'll see a big difference in performance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe we need a new flash? We bought it to decrease the cycle time between flashes and we when we first hooked it up, it showed significant increases in speed, but when we took it to our first shoot, it performed about the same as the flash by itself. Yes, the batteries were fully charged. Yes they were brand new batteries. Still waiting anxiously for the a900!!
