Walkstool Comfort 55 XL overview

  • 1Description

Walkstool is a unique company making an even more unique and extremely useful product. The Walkstool Comfort 55 XL is born of fine Swedish engineering and provides a portable posterior platform - in other words, a seat for all occasions. Whereas a folding chair or stool is nothing new, this Walkstool's clever design makes it stand out from the rest. The two primary issues Walkstool's designers focused on were compact size and load strength and the final product reflects their careful engineering and dedication.

The primary benefit of the Walkstool is the prevention of back strain or fatigue while keeping a person elevated to a comfortable height. This is useful for sports, event, and press photographers who spend many hours on their feet, squatting or on their knees. It is also good for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts or simply anyone who needs a seat in a location where a comfortable chair may be hard to come by.

The Walkstool Comfort line features lightweight and ultra-portable stools with two height positions depending on whether the telescoping legs are extended or not. Transportation of these sub-two lbs stools is a breeze, as it collapses into a compact form that can be easily carried in a camera bag, backpack, or tool bag to be taken just about anywhere. The Comfort line improves on the Basic line with a larger seat, different size seat mesh material, and larger rubber feet to prevent the stool legs from getting stuck in the mud.

Will hold up to 495 lbs
When folded, it is not much larger than a small tripod

    Walkstool Comfort 55 XL reviews

Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to pack stool I am a photographer...I plan to use the stool for posing in my very small studio, and have taken it along to a wedding to seat the bride and not soil her dress. The stool of course doesn't even show.I like the way it folds up and totes in it's own little bag, and it is quite comfortable. The only negative is the claim that it can be used in 2 positions (with legs extended and with legs slid in). I could not possible sit on this stool without have the legs out...there is nothing but a little stump to balance on...perhaps a much younger person could use that feature but.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A knee-saver on vacation I bought this stool to enable me to get off my feet during long days of touring on vacation with a bad knee. It opens and sets up and likewise closes quickly and easily and was extremely useful even for sitting down just for a few minutes. I could whip it out on a trail or in a museum or shop, on a long line, and even in the midst of a crowd, to give my knees a rest. For this purpose, the 55 X-Large size was perfect (I am 5'7), high enough to get up from easily but small enough to pack and carry around. It is very lightweight and comes with its own carrier, which has a shoulder strap. Without this stool I couldn't have done nearly as much on this trip. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock solid stool All above positive comments are valid for me, too. But I can add another trick here. I adjust the leg's stool at 45 cm and I drill on each leg two holes for the red locking pins. So now I have three heights-in-one stool: 1-full retracted level. 2- 45 cmm height and 3- 55 cm height. Wonderful 3 sit levels in one stool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific! Sorry I did not know of this item years ago. Saw an ad for it in the British edition of Digital Photo magazine, have never seen an ad in an American magazine. Ordered on for my photographer brother who has two knee replacements, and when I tried it out, immediately ordered one for myself. If you are anywhere without seating it is indispensable. It is at 22 very comfortable, and with my monopod allows for great shots. I never leave for a shoot without it. In fact, I usually do not go on any outing without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Lifesaver!!!!! I have back and knee problems that make standing and walking long distances very difficult. We planned a trip to NYC for Thanksgiving. I was not looking forward to this trip, because I feared that I would not be able to participate in many of the planned activities such as watching the famous Macy's parade and long hours of shopping. A week before my trip, I was looking for something on-line that might help and found this stool. After reading all the positive reviews I thought it might just work. Boy was I ever glad I made this purchase! It is extremely lightweight to carry. I carried it like a backpack and at a moment's notice could set it up and take a breather. I was able to watch the parade and I didn't take up any more space than if I was standing! I had so many people interested in my stool. I was constantly showing it off!! It took up very little space in my suitcase and I could use it anywhere. I will never take another vacation without it!!! It's extremely comfortable and very sturdy feeling. I never felt unstable sitting on it. I loved how compact the stool was when not in use. I honestly can't think of anything negative about this walkstool. I would highly recommend this stool to anyone who has trouble standing or walking! I even had a police officer tell me it was the best idea she had ever seen when you needed a quick place to sit and seating was hard to find. Love, Love, Love!!!! this stool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Wildlife Photographers with Knee Problems As I have arthur in both knees, getting down low to get the shot is not an option for me when I'm shooting wildlife. With the Walkstool Comfort 55, I can sit down and crouch or hold my camera down using the viewfinder. I recently used the Walkstool at a live birds of prey event. I was able to get great eye-level shots of all the birds on their perches. The Walkstool is not very heavy and comes with a nice draw-string pouch. Easy to carry. I also recommend it for shutterbugs who can't stand for long periods of time. Five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AAAAAAHHHHH As a hobby sports photographer of advancing age, this stool gives me another option from either sitting on the ground or standing for long events. I can now move quickly to new locations without struggling to get up from the ground. Unlike shorter stools, standing up is the same as my favorite computer chair. The seat is wide and very comfortable. The legs extend with no effort. The compact design and little weight makes it easy to carry via sling or on my belt. This stool would be ideal for those waiting in long ticket-purchase lines, day-long events like the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, or long treks to get that perfect photograph. I rank this stool as one of my favorite photography purchases and now realize it will be used for so much more than photography. It is well worth the price paid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy & Sturdy I'm 67 and my back and knees just aren't what they used to be. I had been searching for a chair or stool that was lightweight yet sturdy and the Walkstool Comfort 55 is both. The stool is very lightweight and compact, and is easy to carry along with my camera gear. The stool provides plenty of support when the legs are extended to the full 26 length and the mesh seat is comfortable. I rated the stool 4 stars because I really have only used it a couple times so not sure about durability yet, but honestly I see no reason that would be an issue as long as the manufacturer's instructions are followed. I'm pleased with my purchase and would recommend. I ordered the Walkstool on the B&H website (easy-peazy) and in just a few days I was sitting on my new stool.
