Yellow Tools YT-IND1.5B Overview

Independence from Yellow Tools is a virtual, sample-based instrument. The program functions as a stand-alone application or as a plug-in running under Mac OS X and Windows XP, and combines the malleability of virtual instruments, a premium sound library, and workstation workflow into a single software solution.

The sampler architecture provides a fast, easy, and powerful tool for performing, customizing, and creating authentic instruments on a computer. The intuitive user interface is complemented by a unique file management system, while ultra-fast streaming integration and the Auto-RAM-Cleaner allows the user to load an unlimited number of instruments in seconds.

Independence comes with a multi-page user interface that contains the controls and parameters needed for authentic instrument performances. Suitable for music producers, film composers, sound designers, songwriters and re-mixers, the software provides unlimited layers and samples, unlimited polyphony, unlimited insert effects and filters, unlimited custom channels (internal virtual channels), and bus channels.

Independence ships with an 18GB sound library of instruments. These include a "best-of" collection of instruments from Yellow Tools other products, along with specially optimized instruments designed specifically for this software sampler. Users can also import WAV and AIFF files with resolutions up to 32-bit/192kHz. A comprehensive Auto-Mapping-Import feature allows the import other sound libraries, creating custom mappings within just a few seconds.

The 1.5 update includes Universal Binary support, thirty-two virtual MIDI ports, sixty-four mono and sixty-four stereo output channels, a comprehensive surround environment, additional insert filter and effects, enhanced MIDI groove player, a "Quick Edit" page, and much more.

Culture functions as follows:

Modules Editor
Flexible Modifiers allow for customizing sounds and instruments at will, by being able to connect a modulation source with any destination. Also included are tempo-synchronized LFOs, the ability to use any external MIDI controllers, randomizers and flexible free envelopes.
Mapping Editor
Editing options and graphical representation enable the editing of multi-velocity instruments with any kind of x-fades, fade-ins, fade-outs and individual curves for each fade. The visual display of the audio files contains next to the waveform and the file name also all information on sample rate, bit rate, file type, length, number of frames, and file size.
Independence recognizes the name-structure of multiple samples that belong together and offers in addition the following import options for the files - multi-key mapping (for melodic instruments), one-key mapping (for percussive instruments), chromatic mapping (loops and FX.)
A Slice Editor allows flexible and intuitive editing options - zoom, fixing and moving slice markers, manual deletion and adding of slice markers, and the frame accurate movement and adjustment of all slice markers. All available in real-time.
Performance Mode
The Performance Mode is the "humanizing" function for all sampled instruments, providing up to thirty-two different variations per sample. The playback of the alternate steps can be at random or also assigned individually.
In Advanced Legato Mode, the legato parameters can be assigned to each Section individually to mimic the realistic behavior of an instrument played with legato.
By combining the Advanced Legato Mode with Tune Mode, more than fifty different presets of Arabic, Turkish, Indian, historic and many more scales are available. The user can also create their own scales and add them to a preset list.
Mixer
Allows for editing, mixing, and finishing instrument projects independently of any host software.
Unlimited Bus channels can be assigned to a project. Each layer channel contains five bus sends (selectable as pre and post.)
The mixer provides fast access to tracks, extensive control, and an overview of all channels. Channels can be assigned in groups.
Effects
Contains over thirty professional insert effects and filters, all fully surround compatible.
The sequence of inserts can be simply switched by drag-and-drop.
All inserts that include a "sync" function will synchronize to the host tempo or to the internal tempo of Independence
Includes Origami, a high-end Impulse Response (IR) processor that provides reverb in "true-stereo" and "true-surround" mode, up to 7.1.
An editor mode allows for customizing an IR file, and instruments can be positioned freely in the reverb field in real-time.
