FUJIFILM F40fd Overview

The Fujifilm FinePix F40fd Digital Camera features Fujifilm's proprietary Real Photo Processor II, Super CCD HR VI image sensor and the impressive hardware-based Face Detection technology; and delivers all of this sophisticated technology in a compact, straightforward design. The 8.3 megapixel resolution Super CCD HR VI image sensor provides an astounding ISO 2000 sensitivity at full resolution and does so with minimal image noise to detract from your memories. In addition, the camera is equipped with a superb 3x optical zoom lens that incorporates lens technologies found in professional broadcast TV cameras for the sharpest and brightest pictures possible.

The beautiful slim line outer-shell is just under 24mm deep, making the camera extremely pocketable, with a design that reflects the sophisticated technology within. The enhanced 2.5" LCD screen incorporates Fujifilm's wide view filter thereby expanding the viewing angle by as much as 25 degrees compared to earlier models, and the intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) system provides pop-up prompts to guide you through the menu, and makes the camera incredibly easy to use. The FinePix F40fd also features a number of convenience features such as a dual memory card slot (which accepts xD-Picture Card and the popular Secure Digital (SD) card format), a Dual Shot mode that takes two pictures with one press of the shutter button (one with flash, to capture a bright, vivid image, and the other without flash, to capture the natural ambience of the shot) and a total of 14 special scene position modes (including Underwater, Snow, Night and Close-up) making the camera ideally suited to any photo opportunity. Furthermore, when a still image isn't sufficient, the camera's movie mode, captures movie clips with sound that are of broadcast quality.

The Finepix F40fd incorporates Fujifilm's innovative Super CCD sensor (featuring an octagonal pixel design), that allows you to capture superb highlights and shadow detail with a sensitivity of up to ISO 2000 at full resolution, and delivers exceptional image quality, accurate details, smooth, attractive skin tones and true to life colors.
Fujinon 3x Zoom Lens
The 3x optical zoom aspherical Fujinon lens system incorporated into the FinePix F40fd is similar to those used widely in professional broadcast TV cameras, and provides high quality images with no optical distortions. The Camera also has a 6.9x Digital Zoom that lets you get even closer with a combined zoom of over 20x.
Real Photo Technology
Combining the capability of the RPII Processor, 6th Generation Super CCD-HR Sensor and Fujinon Lens Optics, the FinePix F40fd permits you to record high quality images that maintain all of the subtle light and color of the scene, even in low light situations.
Face Detection Technology
The FinePix F40fd features Fujifilm's incredible Face Detection Technology, that significantly improves your picture taking by identifying human subjects' faces in the frame (up to 10 faces) and in real time, determines the best possible focus and exposure settings for the absolute best results possible.
Picture Stabilization Technology
Taking advantage of the cameras incredible ISO 2000 sensitivity with excellent noise reduction, and high shutter speeds provided by Fujifilm's latest LSI Chip, the Picture Stabilization technology automatically uses professional photographic techniques to help reduce camera shake, freeze subject movement and improve low light background detail.
i-Flash Technology
Fujifilm's i-Flash system ensures your image is always properly exposed with just the right amount of light, resulting in more natural looking subjects and backgrounds that are bright and full of crisp detail.
Dual Shot Mode
The dual shot mode is ideal in those situations where you are not sure if the picture would be better with or without the use of the flash. In this mode, the camera will take two pictures with one press of the shutter button; one with flash, to capture a bright, vivid image, and the other without flash, to capture the natural ambience of the shot.
