    NSI / Leviton 3008 reviews

3008 Dimmer DMX Control Console is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple DMX Control I have used this particular controller for a couple of installations where the users were not very lighting savvy, and I have been happy with the results. If you need options such as assigning specific DMX channels to handles, this is not the console for you; the DMX channels are set and cannot be changed (handle #1 is DMX channel 1, handle #2 is DMX channel 2, and so on). It certainly could be a bit cheaper, given the lack of features, but c'est la vie. Bottom line - the controller is simple, reliable and great for novice users for simple portable rigs or installations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Leviton DMX Controller Just ordered this (June 2011) so I have had relatively short period of time to experiment but so far, so good. Simple to use. Offers both 3 pin and 5 pin cable connections for control over both types of interfaces. Using this unit w/ 7 KinoFlo Parabeam type lighting fixtures and it works well. Uses wall-wart for AC power. Rugged Build Quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A console that's beautifully simplistic! I bought this to install in an amusement park where different employees would be using it throughout the season. It's so simple and straight forward that I have a hard time believing someone could screw up its operation. It does all I need it to (8 stored scenes) and no extras to confuse people. It's also so small and unobtrusive that I had multiple choices of where to install it. Highly recommended if you need something for simple control of up to 8 channels!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used with F&V LED panels We have been looking all over the web for a DMX controller for our F&V 1x1 LED panels, since they have a DMX option. The Leviton was one of a few we found and it works fine, although it wasn't designed for a studio lighting setup. We have 3 rows of LED panels. Each row needed to be controlled independently, so in order to make that work, we also needed to purchase a DMX splitter. The Leviton only has one input/output. How traditional DMX controllers work is that you are supposed to daisy chain, via 3 or 5 pin XLR cables, all of your lights together and then the DMX board controls everything in one unit. BUT, to isolate your lights, you need a splitter. With a splitter, you are able to take advantage of the separate dimmer faders and can fade each bank of lights to your preference. It was a bit of a DIY process, but we got our studio setup to work and although clunky, it has fit our needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What's that noise? I run a very small one-man shop, and use this to control studio lighting. It is more geared towards DJ work, so I don't use the chase sequences or anything light that. But it does the trick. I would have given it 5 stars, but when I got it, there was some noise from loose parts inside the box. I opened it up and found two of the six logic board mounting screws literally unattached. It was easy to hook back up, but that made my perception of their quality control diminish somewhat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pretty much junk I purchased this unit because I've had Leviton products in the past and liked them. Until now. After 6 months of use, the fading is no longer smooth, some of the sliders act like they are loose (just wiggling the sliders can cause wild changes in the lights). This one is going in the trash - complete waste of money. And a waste of time trying to figure out what is going wrong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little controller Very impressed with the solid construction and smooth controls. Great little DMX controller if you only need a few channels, or if you need to run a few channels parallel to your main DMX system. Even lets you program a couple of chase sequences. Really pleased with this purchase. Would love to see a twelve channel model.
