  • 1Description

The Giottos Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector for Leica M8 / M9 is a professional optical screen protector for your digital camera. The German "Schott" optical glass is rigid and protects your LCD screen against scratches, abrasions and impact. Additionally, it's a mere 0.5mm thick. Twelve layers of anti-reflective coating on each side ensure great visibility. Say goodbye to residual images and ghosting with this screen protector, which also withstands UV light.

Translucent glass from Schott protects LCD against scratches, abrasions and impact
12 layers of efficient AR / anti-reflective coating on both sides. One removable protective membrane, one anti-fingerprint coating by nano technology, and one waterproof coating by nano technology enclose the 12 layers of AR coating, creating a layered "sandwich." A double-sided, super heat-strengthened sheet of optical glass is inserted right in the middle of the 12 layers, dividing them into 2 groups of 6.
TESA 4972 double-sided tape is easily mounted and seals LCD, preventing liquids and dirt from getting in and causing damage
No air bubbles or color casts
Rigidity of glass surface is 8-9, with elastic pressure at 56.9 lb/in2 (4.0kg/cm2)
Improves color quality and prolongs working life of LCD
Acid, alkali and burn-in resistance

    Giottos SP8250 reviews

Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector for Leica M8 / M9 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from About this screen protector Three times is a charm with this item. And what I mean bythat is I had to put it on the camera three different timebefore it was actually on correctly. It is very hard to getit directly where it is supposed to be and if you need toget it back off, you need to use a blow dryer for 30 secondsto get it off the camera (the adhesive is very strong which is good, but only when you never want to get it offagain). Otherwise this is a great product. It is made outof glass and it does what it says its going to do. Helpsreally well with the glare and helps to view the picture onthe lcd better in the daylight. Worth the price. Problems Encountered: Getting it on the lcd screen correctly. If you need to getthe screen off, you should go to giotto website. Items I Recommend: Blow dryer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly and beautifully! I first hesitated applying any additional layer on top of my beautiful LEICA M9 LCD screen. But as soon as I learned M9's LCD surface is not strong enough, I decided to invest a little bit to protect the beautiful camera. I researched online and soon could find this specific model being recommended among M8/M9 users. The price was a bit high, but I went with it because I couldn't find any other very good alternatives. It arrived, I applied it carefully, and loved it since! Its black border covers the edge of M9 viewable LCD part very slightly, but that is not a problem at all. The size is perfect for M8/M9. The coating on this piece of glass is beautiful, and now I can feel my M9 LCD will be well protected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for Leica M8 and M9 I put the Giottos screen protector on my M9 as soon as I bought the camera. The M9's LCD quality is pretty low res, so I was glad to find out that the protector did not make it worse. If anything, it eliminated some glare. It also provided important protection against scrapes and bumps. That leads me to mention that the protector screen is a little delicate. It will break if it takes a bump, so do not be surprised if it does. Mine cracked in my camera bag when it was forced against a spare lens. But it was an inexpensive fix to buy a replacement Giottos protector, and it likely saved my LCD from a similar fate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best LCD protector I've ever used Easy to put on. No problem correcting if it goes on wrong the first time. Slide out template in package to ensure you choose the right size. No bubbles.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs to be a bit bigger for a Canon 5D Ideally, I wanted to protect the entire screen on the 5D but this only covers the image portion of the screen excluding the black border area. Otherwise it is a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's not to love! At first, I didn't think I would need a screen protector for my new Leica M9 digital camera that I'd ordered. But I bought one anyway, just in case I changed my mind. I'd keep it in reserve. Meanwhile, while waiting for the camera, I read the Leica forum. The most highly esteemed screen protector mentioned there is the Giottos SP8250. Well, I got my camera, finally. And, as carefully as I treated it, within a week, the screen had already its first, delicate little scratch. So, I installed the Giottos. I did this with deliberate care and lined it up properly. It fits perfectly with no overhanging corners or edges. Indeed, it seems to have vanished. The light transmission is as good as before. I just don't notice the screen protector at all. And now the Leica screen is safe from additional scratches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must-have for M9 If you don't have the Sapphire screen upgrade, you need this to protect your M8 or M9 screen. Much more economical.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so fast Be very careful. This is a great protector at first glance, BUT it is glass, so if it breaks, it could scratch the LCD or cut you. Mine broke somehow inside my bad and when I pulled it out I nearly cut myself. I'm not sure how it broke considering I never dropped it, but it did. If you want this protector, I advise at least putting a film underneath to help prevent scratching should it break on you. Otherwise, I'd recommend a plastic cover which I now have.
