  • 1Description

The Giottos Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector for Select 3.0" LCDs is a professional optical screen protector for your digital camera. The German "Schott" optical glass is rigid and protects your LCD screen against scratches, abrasions and impact. Additionally, it's a mere 0.5mm thick. Twelve layers of anti-reflective coating on each side ensure great visibility. Say goodbye to residual images and ghosting with this screen protector, which also withstands UV light.

Translucent glass from Schott protects LCD against scratches, abrasions and impact
12 layers of efficient AR / anti-reflective coating on both sides. One removable protective membrane, one anti-fingerprint coating by nano technology, and one waterproof coating by nano technology enclose the 12 layers of AR coating, creating a layered "sandwich." A double-sided, super heat-strengthened sheet of optical glass is inserted right in the middle of the 12 layers, dividing them into 2 groups of 6.
TESA 4972 double-sided tape is easily mounted and seals LCD, preventing liquids and dirt from getting in and causing damage
No air bubbles or color casts
Rigidity of glass surface is 8-9, with elastic pressure at 56.9 lb/in2 (4.0kg/cm2)
Improves color quality and prolongs working life of LCD
Acid, alkali and burn-in resistance

    Giottos SP8300 reviews

Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector for Select 3.0" LCDs is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 142.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Hair Short for Pentax 3 Screens Nice piece of protective glass that is incredibly thin, and sharp looking. For Pentax 3 LCDs, this generic shape is a bit short to cover the entire bezel but frankly, is no big loss. I will say that installation can be a bit hectic if you aren't totally in a dust free environment as you DON'T want to trap dust under the screen. Oh, and one more thing, have a clean cloth ready to wipe it down. I'm not particularly greasy, but my nose sometimes bumps up against the screen and looking at it, you can see streaks and smudges of oil which can be rubbed off with a shirt or cloth. It doesn't get absorbed, it just kind of sits on top of the glass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gread addition to my D7000....! This was intended to, obviously replace the plastic cover that Nikon provides. For whatever reason, the Nikon covers just seem to be soft plastic that, no matter what, wind up scratchy..and they are bulky too. This went on very easily, cleans up any fingerprints or smudges quickly...and it just works! The only drawback is that it's not specific to the camera...and the black border around the item is just enough to cover up maybe 1/8 of my camera's display. That said, I rarely use the display, I'm a viewfinder kind of guy..so it's not a big deal to me personally...but if it does matter, you may be a little disappointed...that's all that's keeping it from a perfect score!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must-have for LCD protection ! I bought this glass protector for a Canon G9 that I purchased for my family. The camera came with no LCD protection. The quality of this glass is outstanding and allows you a crystal clear image of your LCD ! The only other options were plastic, which are cloudy and not as protective, or annoying flip up covers that get in the way ! It was easy to install and keep clean - it came with its own cleaning cloth ! It fits flat on top of the LCD and looks great ! The protector can be removed and reinstalled, which is GREAT ! BUT, the only thing that I can say is a con, after about 3 removals, the adhesive starts to weaken. Otherwise a very wise investment to protect a very expensive LCD screen !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Close fit for Canon 7D I put an SP8301 on my 50D when it was new to protect the resin LCD cover. The 7D has a glass LCD cover, which is not as easily scratched. However, I wanted to protect it from scratches, as the LCD cover is expensive to replace. The SP8300 is a very close fit on the 7D: it measures 65.95mm wide and 49.3mm high, while the 7D LCD cover is 64x49; so there is a very slight verlap, but this is not a problem. Giottos makes the SP5401 for the 7D, which is not available yet in the US. The AEGIS protectors are well-made, easy to clean (I use a lens shamois), and glare-free. I wouldn't leave home without one. I gave it 4 stars only because it's not an exact fit for the 7D.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Serves it's purpose well I added it to my Canon Rebel T1i and after a prior review ensured it was situated such that I could see the details of the viewfinder (it is slightly smaller than the viewfinder of the camera). The glass is as clear as the original viewfinder. It does add some thickness to the viewfinder, but it is not in the way. My point and shoot has a film protective layer and the glass is much nicer. I enjoy the security of knowing my viewfinder is safe from scratches, etc. I haven't, however, had to replace the screen protector, so I don't know how well it will come off in the event of damage. Can't review durability yet, but it seems to be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product After having just purchased the Canon 7D and the 5D Mark II camera bodies, I wanted a product that would protect the rear LCD panel. This product did just that. It was very easy to place over the LCD panel and fits perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classy LCD Protection = Cheap Insurance I just put one of these on my new XSi/450D. It is optically excellent; seems to almost improve the LCD image. I feel great about the security of protecting the LCD from scratches, and even from noseprints! The glass of this protector is just one of like 12 laminated layers, the combination of which enhances strength and optical clarity. On the XSi/450D, however, there is a size issue. The protector has a black border that obscures the outer perimeter. In my case, I still get the screen's whole image side to side, minus maybe .5mm, but up/down I lose maybe 2.5mm. It turns out OK though. The screen is taller than the aspect ratio of the camera's sensor, so that top stripe of the LCD never has image on it, just camera info. So I installed the protector all the way to the bottom, slightly cropping the top text. This does not serioulsly impair its readability, and in fact it's all visible under the border when when viewed from a slight angle. This is the generic 3 Giottos protector, as they don't have one (yet?) for my camera model. If you get one specific to your camera model, I doubt this issue occurs.
