Yamaha NS-IW280CWH Reviews

These will blow your mind!

I bough these to replace some old and cheap ceiling speakers in a 5.1 setup. The moment I installed them and fired them up, the sound was amazing! Awesome for movie surround sound, brilliant for multi-channel music. They have just enough bass (add a sub if you want a bit more thump), but the mid and high range is incredible - I’m hearing new things in sound tracks that I’ve listened to for years (and I usually listen to music in another room with B&W high-end speakers). Amazing value for the money.

Easy install and good sound. Added as height speakers in 5.1.2 home theater. Note tweeters can be adjusted for firing direction. Manual not clear on how to, but do so by pressing on edge of tweeter themselves. 3 way system, woofer and two tweeters.

question

Do I need brackets for new construction install?
Asked by: Anonymous
The frame has 4 clips build in behind the bezel that flip out 90 when their screws are turned. No additional parts are needed. The best installation will be in an uninsulated cavity in one layer of 1/2 or 5/8 drywall, although I have installed them in doubled up ceilings and wood over drywall. You will want to keep the edge of the hole 1-2 away from any joist, truss, or stud, as it can interfere with the flip out clips if you cut the hole too close to something behind it.The owner's manual on their site should give you all the info you need. It won't let me post the link but it's usa dot yamaha dot com.
