    Smith-Victor A120 reviews

    A120 12" Ultra Cool Light (120VAC) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from not only for photography. A Reading light Goodwill had the A100 and A120 for xx each. No CA 8% tax and a 10% senior discount on top of that. I got both because it was the same price as a chicken brooder lamp which is a flimsy aluminum and a ceramic base. Now I can grow chickens NOT! basil YES mj NOT or even take some pictures. Actually I need excellent light for reading as the eyes are going downhill. I will use it for a reading light as it looks decorator and will reflect decently. I would like to buy a photo umbrella to go with it. My 1930's torchiere, 1940's six way and 1910's bridge will accept it as an equal. I have all kinds of lights. Even a commercial Bollard for my patio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light This light is what I used when I made my first short film and I kept using the equipment that the school had. When I was using them, I never thought anything of them but now that I have been exposed to more lights I understand why these really are perfect. First of all, the price is perfect for this product. Literally exactly what it's worth compared to other lights. It is well made where it needs to be, allowing for extremely flexible adjustments in the sense that the light swivels easily on all axis. It also balances on the stand in a way that you din't really need to worry about. I remember that in my class, sometimes we had days where a ton of these lights were scattered across the room and everyone was doing their own thing with them. They would get knocked over just because of there being a lot of people in a small space, but all the lights survived many falls. Then there's the light spread. Very even with a rather sharp line on the edge of the light. (Meaning it doesn't fade a lot) I also remember we found softboxes for these that worked nicely. In short this light is: Durable Exceptional quality for cost Presentable in front of clients Produces a bright, easy to control light Has a screw-in socket for changing color temperature bulbs Light But there are some reasons I didn't give this 5 stars. For starters, there is no dimmer. This made the light very annoying to work with because you can only put so many things in front of a light. They get hot after a while. The cord is nice and would actually be easy to modify though. Also, this light isn't easy to travel with. Sure it's light, But I don't remember finding a way to take the reflector off (Granted, I don't remember trying)I would put it in the original box to transport it. That's all there is to it! If you are someone who is just starting out and you want to buy a good enough light that's worth spending money on, This is it! It will be useful to you for a very long time. If your a seasoned pro, this is also a good light, Nothing beats simple, reliable and unspecialized. This light would improve anyone's kit
