I have 4 small LED lights. I also have 2 1x1s. I use the smaller lights for a back light or accent and have to rig them with a gaffer grip or other clamp to fix them to a stand. These smaller lights all have cold shoe mounts. I figured there had to be something that would mount these cold shoe fixtures to a 5/8 spud. These are just the ticket! The only thing I am a little nervous about is the set screw for holding the cold shoe in place. It would be nice if it was not totally removable but captive and would stay in place when turning it out to release the shoe. It can fall out and might be hard to replace if lost. Otherwise this is a really well built and engineered solution to what I need.

Exactly what I thought it would be

I have some extra light stands that I wanted to utilize holding my Nissin flashes. This is a great, inexpensive solution. The cold shoe is cast metal and very solid. Unfortunately, Nissin flashes have very little clearance above the foot and didn't fit. B&H came through like champs and sent me replacement bent steel shoes that work perfectly.

Well built and gets the job done. I pair mine with a manfrotto 026 umbrella adapter to get the most flexible system on the market as of January 2015. Maybe they will come up with a single unit like this but none exists at the time of my purchase. See my review on the manfrotto 026 to see how I use mine with an umbrella. Just had to give it 5 stars coz it is solid and solves my problem of the flash aiming off center of umbrella when mounted on a transceiver when paired with the right adapter. Please note that you can't use this by itself with an umbrella.

If you need an inexpensive adapter to use your flash units on light stands this is a gem of a product. I've been using it for about a year now and just ordered some extras. It is the perfect addition to your kit bag if you use multiple flashes. Well made and reliable.

Excellent performance, highly recommended

Would probably buy smaller adapters that B&H sells.

If tilting the flash from the stand is what you are after this works well, there are smaller less expensive adapters that fit right on the stand, you would tilt the speed light head.

I bought this to mount a Rode Shotgun mic with a shoe adapter to a SV lighting boom. It works fantastic. I tried to find the hardware at a hardware but nothing was even close. I'm so glad I found this. It is so much better than what I could have built.

Metal. They feel pretty heavy duty. Not a cheap plastic.

Can you please tell me what is the maximum weight load capacity of this item?
Asked by: Tyler
I do not believe the load capacity was given in the description but I use this item to hold a speed flash plus wireless remote receiver with no problem whatsoever and I really like the adjustment feature.
