The Giottos MH-1300 Pro Series II Large Ballhead with MH-400C Camera Platform is a large "socket & ball" head that is strong enough to support the heaviest of professional SLR cameras. It has been carefully designed and manufactured to precisely position the camera easily and securely.

In order to cut back on its weight, this head features a hollowed out heavily anodized aluminum ball. The body shell (socket) follows a slimmer and lighter structure design, yet offers increased hardness. Three separate knobs provide optimal security and convenience. In addition to the main locking knob, it also features a friction control knob, and a separate locking knob for pan control.

Features an independent calibrated pan bed

    Giottos MH1300 reviews

MH-1300 Pro Series II Ballhead with MH-400C Camera Platform is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice but heavy ball head. I purchased this ball head along with a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod 055MF3 (Read my review). While I never used a ball head before, (I always had a three way pan tilt)getting use to this came quickly and easly. You can put your camera at any angle and then lock it in place with one knob! The tension knob dose'nt seems like much use to me, (I either want to move the ball head or I don't). It pans smothly. It has a large base for the camera to sit on, and this also makes it easy to take the camera off quickly. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of it's weight and bulky size. I whish I had bought the Gottos MH-1301 Pro Series 2. The only diffrence? It holds five less pounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding quality and function This ballhead is amazing! I needed it for a large, heavy Nikon SLR + telephoto lens combination. The Giottos MH-1300 Pro Series II is rock solid, yet smooth and precise in all movements. It requires very little pressure to lock it in any position. The build and finish quality can't be beat. You won't find any better -... I would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice I have it mounted on a very nice manfrotto tripod (sorry, don't know the brand) and it compliments it well. Holds my 5D & 100-400mm w/ an adapter very nicely. I use it w/ a RRS quick lease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 500mm lens-no problem I was looking for tripod head at reasonable cost for my Nikon and 500mm lens. I found it with this head. Very sturdy. No cons that I have found.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid as a rock Light enough to carry around, strong enough for a 5d and a 100-400 zoom. This is a quality product and a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made...provides good control Bought this to use on a tripod. Had a single knob ball head on it but it was difficult to control precisely. Separate adjustment controls are so much better.Intended to mount an 323 RC2 QL that I already had but the diameter of the platform on the BH interfered with the pivot on the QL. Needed to buy an adaptor. But it all worked out to my satisfaction although it cost a little more than initially planned. If not for the platform size I would have given it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome ballhead I have semi-crippled hands and I needed a ballhead that required minimum strength to lock and adjust. This was the answer to my prayers It holds my heaviest camera and lens combinations with ease, and locks into place with little effort. The machining and finish are beautiful and will look great on any large tripod or monopod. This is a big ballhead so don't put it on too small of a tripod. I think most people will be more than pleased with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Good as They Say Don't let the price fool you for this well machined ball head, with very sensitive but tight controls. Camera platform easily replaced with arca type clamp and some Lok-Tite. Very smooth. I have owned several RRS and Linhof heads that are no better than this head. And it costs a fraction of the other brands. You really cannot do any better no matter the cost. Heartily recommend this head to beginner and pro alike.
