Giottos MH1304 overview

  • 1Description

The Giottos MH-1304 Pro Series II Mini Ballhead with MH-110C Camera Platform is a mini "socket & ball" head that has been carefully designed and manufactured to precisely position the camera easily and securely. Measuring slightly over 1" (27mm) in diameter, this head is rated to support up to 7 lbs (3 kg).

In order to cut back on its weight, this head features a hollowed-out heavily anodized aluminum ball. The body shell (socket) follows a slimmer and lighter structure design, yet offers increased hardness. One large control knob locks down all movement of the ball.

    Giottos MH1304 reviews

MH-1304 Pro Series II Mini Ballhead with MH-110C Camera Platform is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the right product for your needs The picture more or less tells the entire story. It's small and simple. If you need something that can hold a lot of weight, and has quick release and other features, this isn't it. I use this for my second flashes and video lights. Use with another adapter (see below) I can throw these items on a light stand quickly, with the rough adjustments I need to make on the fly. It's the right part of the job, and thinking about what it does for the very small amount of money it costs it's a deal! I bought 3 of em!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice price - performance point Best mini ball head I've found so far. Not strong enough for DSLR weight range. But I use these a lot for misc gear, like external monitors (e.g. Aputure VS-2), portable digital audio recorders (e.g., Zoom H5 or H1), satellite cams (e.g., GoPro Hero5), the occasional odd mic set-up, etc. ... and they work great for these. I prefer the larger knob on this model, as compared to Giotto's lower priced version of this. The tension seems a bit stronger on this version too, though I'm not sure that the design (as much as I can see of it) backs that impression up. In any case, it's yet to lose position on me mid-shoot. This device is not for really precise angle adjustments for DLSR cameras, but rather is for quick sturdy general positioning of the ancillary equipment like my list above. Works well for that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not hold anything This little Giottos completely melted down on me. It can't hold items below its specified weight limit and I was left trying to tighten it so hard that the ball started disintegrating and now there's powdered metal and paint it's not much use anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to use I was looking for something that I could pack away and use when I needed it. This item has really worked out well. Light weight and seems durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small camcorders I use 2 of these to mount small camcorders on microphone stands (On-Stage MM-7700) to use as unattended extra cameras for weddings I film. You'll also need 2 low cost On-Stage MA-125 mic screw adaptors. The Giottos MH-1304 is so much better than the poorly constructed On-Stage CM-01 adaptor. It can accurately (and quickly) lock the camera to any angle, unlike the CM-01 which, after tightening the ball head a few times, seems to have small pits gouged into it's ball joint, and can subsequently only be locked easily at these points.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for This thing is really small, and not necessarily real strong, but it was $. I'd say it's worth the $ but just barely. I'm using this with an SLR Zoom gorillapod. If I had to choose again, I'd probably buy the size bigger (around $ ) for this application.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok, but doesn't support weight indicated I bought this to support a trail camera specifically because the description said that it would support 7 lbs. It doesn't come close. Any camera over a couple pounds will just tip over if you try to use it to hold the camera at an angle. Otherwise, it is a fine ballhead, it just can't support the weight indicated which is too bad. I was able to use it on a lighter trail camera, so I kept it anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value I bought this to mount to a table top tripod I own. The main use to hold a point and shoot camera or a flash unit. Locks tight and easily and a good value for the dollars.
