Dread: Roots Reggae from Big Fish is a sample DVD celebrating the early roots of reggae, a style of music that combined traditional African sounds with American jazz and R n'B. With the end of England's colonial rule in 1962, the music quickly spread throughout the island, and could be be heard blasting from speakers on every street corner.
Material on this sample CD includes forty-one construction kits, with music inspired by the likes of the Skatalites, the rock-steady throb of the Heptones and Bob Marley. The collection includes tradition melodies and rhythms, with tempos ranging from 65 to 160 BPM.
