This Matthews RoadRags Kit is a portable lighting modification system that helps you to quickly and easily duplicate studio lighting effects on location, using your portable lights. The elastic corded frames easily fold for storing and transporting. A simple "flick of the wrist" is all that's required to quickly open the frame making it ready to use.

By using the different materials, you are able to quickly create contrasts, different light ratios, diffusion or block the light. The RoadRags Kit fits easily into most lighting kits. Additional fabrics are available separately.

RoadRags are designed for use under a controlled environment. Wind and/or other weather conditions may cause damage to this product.

Single and double scrim diminish the light.
The flag acts as gobo, to totally block light.
The artificial silk softens and diminishes the light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice portable lighting control kit The RoadRags Kit provides a convenient way to help control the lighting on set. The standard kit comes with two scrims, a flag and a diffusion silk. Each cloth piece slides on to a collapsable frame which then mounts to any standard C-Stand head or other clamping apparatus. Everything folds up and is stored in a small, lightweight bag that's easy to throw in with the rest of your lighting an grip gear. The kit is fairly sturdy and can be expanded by adding additional cloths. The only negative I would comment on is that it seems a little pricy. However, it is made by Matthews and I suspect will last a long time; if that's the case, the price is fair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great size and packability for travel Was in NY on a shoot had the larger 24x36 RoadRag set, but they are large for interviews and smaller locations. We had a morning off and walked to B&H and bought the 18x24 and then traveled to Ottawa, Aspen, LA and used them exclusively and never opened the 24 x 36 RoadRags again

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for traveling shoots This is a great kit as it is compact and offers a lot of what you would need to enhance and influence the lighting during a shoot. It is super light weight and can fit pretty much anywhere in an existing equipment bag. The screens are good quality. They could possibly be more rugged but for the price you really can't go wrong I recommend this kit to anyone but especially someone doing smaller/traveling productions. These are great to use with fresnels. I use this for film and video shoots and it works wonderfully.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kinda Snappy (and not in a good way) So these are not durable. Yes they seem like good scrims and flags but when just nudged and not hard the polls will snap at the point where they meet the union. This isn't such a fun thing to have happen for professional grade equipment. They do easily fit together and seem of decent quality apart from breaking... These would be a poor choice for outdoor use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for photograhy I have been using the flags to control light during my portrait shoots. Awesome! I bought the Matthews arms as well. Great product. Too expensive is my gripe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for interviews This ultra-portable flags and silk kit is great for lighting interviews. The frame snaps together like tent poles, and the the flags have no seam across the top, which allows them to be used to partially block light without leaving a shadow. They're made for traveling. This kit would be perfect if it had one more silk - I find myself wanting to use two silks more often than two flags. Other than that, perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Portable, Great Small Scrim Kit We produce a ton of interviews and we're always trying to limit how much gear we carry with us. This kit is perfect for single-person talking head shoots. One note, it took us a few minutes to figure out how to fit the scrims on the frames. You need to pull both side together and put the scrim on on both poles at the same time. This can be done with one person, but I recommend two.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazingly efficient modifier kit We do a lot of run and gun work and only have a small studio, so when it came to finding a proper light modifier kit, we really didn't want to big ourselves down with the contents of a 1 ton grip truck. I first heard of this kit from Stillmotion and how they are able to fly around the world with an interview lighting kit that all fits into a suitcase. This is a great discovery and is well worth the price. We have already brought it on a small narrative shoot and it did wonders. Obviously the modifier size leaves a bit to be desired, but I can't complain that much when it collapses to a size and weight that you can barely notice carrying. I wish they doubled up on silks and frames. I'll have to get another one of these kits in the near future :-)
