Tiffen Step-Up Ring Overview

The Tiffen 27.5-37mm Step-Up Ring is a reliable and economical way to use filters. For example, a 49-52mm Step-Up ring would allow you to use 52 mm filters on lenses with a 49 mm front filter thread size.

Note:
Tiffen also produces Step-Down Rings which allow smaller sized filters to be used on lenses with larger front filter thread sizes. For example, a 52-49 mm Step-Down Ring would allow a 49 mm filter to be used on a lens with a front filter thread size of 52 mm. Care must be taken using Step-Down rings in order to avoid vignetting.
Small, efficient way to save space and money at the same time
Allows user to buy fewer filters but continue to shoot the images they want
Tiffen, a leader in the production of filters for still, video and cinematography, also produces these rings to assist photographers in their work

I have been using Tiffen rings and filters for many years and have complete confidence in their products. This step up ring, as all the others that I own, is reliable and durable in the field. The threads never lock up and the rings are easy to use.

Does its job. Lets me use non-bayonet filters on my Hasselblad. All good.

question

Does using a 62 mm lense instead of a 52 mm lense make a difference in photo quality?
Asked by: Anonymous
In general, no. However, it can be used to prevent vignetting on a wide angle lens with a standard ring polarizer or when stacking more than one filter on a lens.
